SRK's whopping tax returns By IndiaFM News Bureau, November 1, 2005 - 12:15 IST Shahrukh Khan's last film Paheli may not have had the cash registers jingling but that does not stop him from being the highest individual tax-payer in Bollywood with this year's annual return being a whopping Rs. 13 crores. This is a big increment from what he paid last year assumed to be Rs. 7.5 crore. According to the officials at Aaykar Bhavan in Marine Lines he has already paid an advance of Rs. 3.75 crores.
You might ask that he has had only one release this year so how can his returns be so high? Well, apart from films, he also endorses a wide variety of products ranging from cars to beauty products to tea biscuits. He also runs his own production company, which released Kaal last year which was a major success overseas. And let's not forget the shows that he does abroad. His tour titled as Temptation Tours has had performances in Malaysia, United Kingdom and The United States.
Others in the biggies list of tax-payers include Amitabh Bachchan, Yash Chopra and Aamir Khan. Not many know that but Mithun Chakravarthy was Bollywood's highest tax-payer for five consecutive years from 1994 to 1999 because of his chain of hotels in Ooty and the parallel film industry that he runs there.
