Or even Raj Kumar Hirani. Everybody else in the list deserves it better than him!

Everyone in that list deserved it more than Rakesh Roshan. Many of his films are just copies of Hollywood ones anyways. My choice would be Rajkumar Hirani from these.

SLB deserves. I loved Hum dil de chuke sanam, Devdas and Black

I think Rakesh Roshan deserves it. All his movies were major block buster hits. I agree the stories behind his movies were not great, but his products overall were good. His sense of direction is good. If you think this award should have been given on the basis of story, then the award should be for best story or writer. Although, I wish SLB won the award yet Rakesh is not any less deserving.

SLB without a doubt was the most deserving because hddcs, devdas and black were brilliant, the actors performed the best under his direction, they were huge hits (except black which was not commercially that successful) , got lots of critical acclaim and awards. In comparison to SLB rakesh hasn't done anythgin that impressive because special effects don't make anyone a brilliant director, the only reason he won was probably because the movies made lots of money, but that doesn't mean he was the director of the decade because to make someone that they have to direct a well made film which means everythign has to be good, the content, the movie , the characters the actors, and in rakesh movies none of this things were paticualrly good with the exception of hrithik who acted really well in koi mil gaya and kaho na pyaar hai. Raj Kumar Hirani is aalso a good director but still i don't think he was deserving as SLB, he definately deserved it more than Rakesh though because atleast his movies were original.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Raj Kumar Hirani deserved it better than him

Like the majority of the posts here, I think SLB is the deserving one. Although his last two movies Black and Sawaariya made me think that he is better off being a theatre (play) director.

I agree SLB deserved it.
