I like this topic... 😊

I agree with Anjali.. when these actresses speak in their mother tongue.. they have a heavy Hindi/English accent... specially maharashtrian ones... Wonder why?? 😕
Few days back.. there was an article in Maharashtra Times.. it said "why do we clap so much when some Marathi actor or soprtsman speaks a line or two in Marathi?" They are just speaking in their mother tongue afterall... that too "toota-foota" with 3-4 English words in between or should I say.. with 3-4 Marathi words in an English sentence.. and we go like "aggabai... Tendlya Marathi bolala ho.. visarla nahi Marathi aahe te" why should we be proud or admire them when they speak Marathi? It should be by default.. is it not? 🤔
But shamefully.. it's not only celebrities.. even common Marathi speaking population is slowly forgetting "shuddha Marathi" 😔

Yes.. Tendlya is Tendulkar 😆😆 I play this game with my daughter.. I tell her to speak in shuddha Marathi for 5 mins.. it gets really entertaining for all of us😆... but she does learn few new words in Marathi 😊

Thanks Purva and I agree with u too..kharach, lokanna itka ka ashcharya vatata ekhadi maharashtrian celebrity marathi madhe bolte tevha?? gammat vatat asel lokanna te aiktana karan eetar veli kadhi marathi aiklela nasta tyancha 😆 .. someone here said about sonali bendre speaking in marathi during the Indian (bore) Idol auditions, and I must say it was awful, first of all she only said about 6 or 7 words in marathi and those were with a very awkward accent , other than that she didnt say anything in marathi for the rest of the season 😔

Here in US or any other country for that matter (outside of India) children tend to speak in english most of the times, but I think that the parents should make sure that the kids speak in marathi at home. That way they don't lose touch with their mother tongue. But some ppl themselves don't speak in marathi even at home, so what will the kids do? I remember attending Ganapati utsav / celebrations organized by Maharashtra Mandal, they had arranged lunch for everybody..for dessert they had "Shrikhand"..we were having our lunch, suddenly I heard a lil boy asking his father as to what the sweet is called, and to my surprise the father told his son that it was "sweet yogurt" , would it have killed the man to say that it was "Shrikhand" in shuddha marathi?????😕

I have many such stories to tell, but I'll stop right now, maybe later 😛
