Sonam's sis grows up

Sonam's sister Rhea takes on the producer mantle for Ayesha

Daughter Sonam Kapoor is doing a film and papa Anil Kapoor is making sure no stone is left unturned to make Ayesha a special film. In fact, sister Rhea too has stepped on board as the official producer of the film. And you bet Sonam is having a lot of fun working with her.

Sonam, who plays a chronic match-maker in Ayesha, will begin shooting for the film in the third week of June in Delhi. But before that, she will fly down to Los Angeles next month for dress rehearsals. Designer Mona May, who has done Amy Adams's costumes for Enchanted, has been roped in to dress Sonam for Ayesha. So while Anil is looking after other stuff of their production house, the sisters will be in LA, trying the costumes.

Sonam says she's having a great time with Rhea, spending hours together huddled over the creative aspects of the film and getting every detail right.

Oh she has grown up alright, big enough to "offcially produce" a movie on her own. Just like SRK's wife who keeps producing all his movies. 😉

On another note, I'm quite interested in watching this version of Emma.

LOL psychobalehead, I like how all these women just use their husbands/dad's money and "produce."

Is there a real woman producer in this industry?

Everybody uses their dad's money from Karan Johar to Aditya Chopra . Then they take over from their father. So Rhea is doing the same. Maybe she will handle Anil Kapoor's production in the future...maybe get into acting also like Farhan Akhter or who knows maybe sing as well. LOL.

There is only Ekta Kapoor I can think of but not sure how she started off...she had Jeetendra's money to help her start.

To produce a movie of course one needs money and that is only possible if you have a good bank balance. Everyone uses their parent's money.

In this case, the feminist in me LOVES the fact that it is girls who is taking care of Anil Kapoor's productions unlike the other Kapoors where girls are married off to rich business families and become trophy wives and then dumb guys like Rajeev Kapoor dishonor RK banner with zilch creativity.

So YAY to Anil Kapoor's girls.

As for the movie, I have a strong feeling that as much they claim it to be remake of the classic it might end up as exact replica of Alicia Silverstone's Clueless.

Dear god, I hope not...I really liked the book but I didn't even realise the Movie was based in thats how removed from the reality it was!

In anycase...we must remember, this is a bollywood remake...so there is little point even thinking it will stay true to the book or the characters, unless it's made by Vishal Bhardwaj.

BUT, I'll watch the movie regardless and who knows maybe Rhea might be able to inject some original, fresh ideas into the project and since it's all in the family and Sonam's an avid reader...much like us, she may insist upon staying true to the book (Dont know how much influence she has but still). So good luck to Rhea and CANNOT wait to see Sonam on screen again.

Rhea is just the producer...the writer is Devika Bhagat and the director is Rajshree Ojha. All young girls and they even had a presentation for Anil Kapoor when they were trying to sell their movie to the producer Anil Kapoor :)

I also really really hope it's not like Clueless...that would be disappointing though. Rajshree has made Chaurahen which I haven't seen so can't say what her style is. Let's see...I don't see these girls making a crappy film...so even if it is Clueless I am hoping for a good film.
