No training needed to become a singer: Atif Aslam

While most musicians say that training is a prerequisite of a good singer, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam who has crooned popular Bollywood songs like "Woh lamhe" ("Zehar"), "Aadat" ("Kalyug") and "Pehli nazar mein" ("Race") feels that he is a born singer.

A singer should not be criticised just because he is not trained as, according to me, you do not need training for singing," said Atif on a special show which was broadcast Thursday on Radio One 94.3 FM in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

The singer, who is an ardent fan of Kishore Kumar, revealed that it was the legendary singer's songs that inspired him to become a singer.

I agree that we should not insult atif aslam but this is utter nonsense that you do not need training to become singer. I think this singer should be criticised in giving wrong education about music to the people of India. all the singers have gone through the musical training and look noe they have such a polished voice whereas atif and Himesh reshanmeyi sing from nose which is rubbbish.

Which is why you can clearly hear the difference between say Sonu Nigama and Atif.
Ofcourse some people are born gifted but when you sing professionally unless you are supremely talented you do need to be trained by an experienced guru.
Doing Riaaz everyday as part of the music training serves a purpose - it enhances the singing capability.

and thats the reason he is the most besura singer at present!! well if he can b considered a singer although!!

it is only kishore kumar who hs been supremely talented , who hs ever been able to sing well without much training!!!!

atif shud stop speaking rubbish!!! he hs zero knowledge of music and doesnt even knw how besura he sings !!!!

this is completely my opinion, nt to hurt is fans and i m nt answerable to any1 abt my opinion!

Training is vital. And yes you can tell the difference between a trained singer and non-trained singer. I like Atif's songs but the guy isn't on key and it can be heard easily when compared to other singers.

I don't agree with u, infact Atif Aslam is one of the best singer in the recent time, his voice is very deep and expressive, if the person has a nice voice, don't need to practice for it, if u don't like him, it doesn't mean he is not considered a singer, otherwise his songs would not be hits...........

Kishore Kumar is a human being as well as Atif Aslam, no one is better than other as for singing, everyone is in their places and time, Kishore Kumar's time is totally different from Atif Aslam's time.........

I LOVE atif songs. If he wasn't talented, he wouldn't had made big in india. His all numbers became huge from Kalyug to zeher to race..but i don't know why compare him with Kishore or Sonu? I don't think Atif said those comments to hurt anyone or insult someone.

oh yaa and there is difference between kishore kumar and atif aslam.. in kishore kumars time there ws no software to transform a besura singing into sur.. which yu can do it today.. and dats the reason why kishore kumar is exceptional who without training cud sing in sur at a stretch.. there ws no pause and cut during a song recording then.. now uu dnt need to agree with me in this also.. bt just replied to u since yu prefered to reply my post.
