Karan's journey with Yashraj
After a distribution deal of more than ten years, Karan Johar has ditched Yash Raj Films. Their journey began with KJo's first film as a director - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Karan's second directorial venture, the mega-starrer Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham was also distributed by Yash Raj Films.
After Karan's entry into Dharma Productions, the first film that was produced by them but directed by Nikhil Advani was was Kal Ho Naa No. This too was distributed by Yash Raj.
Kaal, directed by Soham Shah was jointly produced by Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. The third musketeer was Yash Chopra, who distributed the film.
Karan Johar's directorial come-back was Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Yash Raj distributed this film despite its infidelity angle.
Dharma's latest film Dostana proved to be a blockbuster, but it was a risky business venture because of its portrayal of homosexuality. This proved to be the last collaboration between Yash Raj and Dharma Productions.
Dharma Productions' next film Wake Up, Sid, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor will be distributed by UTV.
Speculations are that even the next SRK-Kajol starrer My Name is Khan, which is being directed by Karan Johar, will be distributed by UTV.
