Farhan and Zoya Akhtar refused to meet the audience who were promised an interaction with them at Fame Lido in Bangalore
Zoya and Farhan Akhtar tied up with Fame Lido, Bangalore for a 'greet & meet' interaction with the audience for their film, Luck By Chance for a late night show on Sunday, February 8. They were expecting a 100 percent turn out but were disappointed with the turn out at the theatre. The two then stormed out without meeting or interacting with the audience.
Our source, who was present at the venue, said, "Farhan and a girl from his marketing team came in around 11.50 pm. The show was scheduled to get over at 12.15 a.m. Farhan peeped into the auditorium a few minutes before 12 midnight. He came out of the auditorium, took Zoya, Ehsaan and Loy and stormed out of the theatre at 12.05 a.m. Apparently, Farhan and Zoya were not happy with the turnout. They probably expected full attendance. The girl from their marketing team was quite rude to the Fame Lido's staff."
The source added, "Worse still, Farhan and Zoya did not give any explanation to the theatre staff who tried their best to stop them from leaving. When the viewers came out of the theatre at around 12.15 a.m., and didn't see Farhan anywhere around, they felt cheated and became very aggressive."
Before the situation got out of control, the theatre owners announced that they were ready to refund the ticket money. Farhan also cancelled the press conference that was scheduled for Monday morning at the same venue.
Ritesh Siddhwani, Farhan's partner in Excel Entertainment who has produced Luck By Chance, said, "The interaction with the viewers did happen. We reached at 12.05 a.m., and left the premises at 12.40 a.m. Yes, we did cancel the press conference slated for Monday morning but that is because we had to reach Mumbai. As for the attendance, we are very happy with the response.
However, AVP, Marketing & Ad Sales, Abhishek Raina confirmed that the Luck By Chance team didn't interact with the viewers of the late night show. "They left probably because they had some work," he added.
Despite repeated text messages, Farhan and Zoya remained unavailable for comment.
