Well Kat doesnt know anything BUT english. That's her native tongue!
She was raised in Britain, so there's no reason for her NOT to speak english properly. But I think our celebs do a pretty decent job considering its not their first language.

Exactly - lets ask Kat to answer in Hindi .
What's the big deal if Kareena doesnt speak the Queen's english ? As long as she can get her point across it shouldnt really matter. As for her getting Hollywood roles with her accent - a heavy accent didnt hold back Salma hayek or Penelope Cruz did it ?
FYI I am not comparing Kareena to Hayek or Cruz - just saying that just speaking perfect english is nto required to be a Holloywood actress.

I so disagree with this post. Why complaining on their english. They are far better actresses than who can speak proper english. I still think kareena can speak english. why we care or complaining about their english? They are living in India, so it's not important to have fluet english.

I disagree with the poster. Why do we expect everyone to speak English with the right accent?

Kangana speaks English but does have an accent. She is able to express herself which is important. Agreed she does falter but thats okay. She is probably from a vernacular school. Its unfair to single her out or for that matter single out any person... in my opinion. She is a very good actress...Like some poster said..if Kat can get away without knowing..Hindi in a HINDI industry.
Most French/ German/Russian/ Chinese actors and actresses don't even attempt to speak English.
In my opinion both of them are fine.

kareena is fine, never saw any problem with her
and as kangana, she is trying..i dont think we need to demand that she learns it caz she works in HINDI film industry, and as long as she speaks that right..it's ok!

Most people tend to think in a language they're most comfortable in - maybe that's why it's sometimes tough to convert their thinking into speaking. If given a script, they have the words right in front of them. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to speak fluent English then.

Even Kangana is not bad. I watched a recent interview of hers. She is not completely fluent yet but she is much better than she was in the beginning.

This coming from Ms. Koizikakapoor and many others who have ironically made posts on this thread that are riddled with grammatical mistakes, spelling mistakes and sentence run-ons. Ironic, isn't it? 🤢
This thread reeks of pot meet kettle.😆
Here are some points I'd like to put across:
1) Indian actresses do not have to communicate in English. They work in India where bollywood movies are mainly in Hindi, therefore English is not a necessity.
These bollywood people only communicate in English so that they are not labelled "verni" or "dehati" or "downmarket". Anyone remember the humiliation Mamta kulkarni and madhuri Dixit faced in the 90s for not being able to speak in english properly? Fastforward to present, does anyone truly think less of Mads as an actress just because she had a really bad way of speaking English back then?
2) Indians always have the tendency of licking the white man's arse! Its been a long time since colonization ended, so this tendency of worshipping everything white needs to go already.
3) Accent rarely matters. Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek, Javier Bardem and Gael Garcia Bernal, Marion Cottilad (if you guys do not know these people......google is your friend).....ALL HAVE ACCENTS. Yet, they've been appreciated by mainstream hollywood critics and nominated for reputed film festival awards and the oscars.
Conclusion: The main job of an actor is to act. CONVINCINGLY. It does not matter what language they speak, how they speak....as long as they convince the audience of their acting, they are to be considered good actors.

👏👏👏 Well said. I totally agree with you. I am not a regular poster hence decided not to bring that point for discussion. I am absolutely glad you made the point. Hopefully the message has reached home.

I like the way Kangana speaks English. She must know she isn't very fluent in it but she insists on speaking it.

She is a riot that one. She has a really different accent too not the typical desi accent, wonder what is her first language, does anyone know?\\

I would much rather hear her speak in English than some other desi celebs lwho keep saying "ya'all this" "ya'all that" etc etc

LOL flaviya!!! "downmarket" that term cracks me up!
