Hi friends,
WILL VIPUL MOVIES INSPIRE NRIS' RETURN?

'Singh Is Kinng' is not only a romantic fun movie but has a deeper message to its audience, especially non-resident Indians (NRIs). In the movie, its hero Akshay Kumar urges his friend to return from Australia to care for his old and ailing parents back home in Punjab. This will certainly prick the conscience of hundreds of NRIs whose parents may be in dire need of their only supporter at this juncture of their life. The producer, Vipul Shah drives home the message of his earlier movie 'Namaste London' yet again. The message becomes clearer at the second half when the movie depicts the emotional re-union with parents and the loved ones in the village. This homecoming needs to be played out fully for NRIs when they introduce their foreign girlfriends, face the realities of living in India and help to develop their village to prosperity.
If included, this would be a great promotion for the emerging opportunities in India for young NRI professionals and middle-aged investors. But why does the movie show most of the NRIs as gangsters in Melbourne (Australia). Isn't it true that a large number of youngsters have gone there to study but end up working illegally, especially driving taxis? This is proved as the Australian government has only recently allowed Indian students to work part-time legally. The grant of a student visa (with reduced fees) since last April automatically permits them to work for 20 hours a day. So there are fewer chances for them to turn to crime for survival. Incidentally, the movie has become too popular at parties.

i never knew it was a romantic flick...i just thought it was great comedy...the romantic track has been played out in so many movies so that aspect of it was nothing new....but akshay was great in his punjabi role, which was new to him, was different, and hasnt been attempted before, so it all worked in his favor...
