Abhishek, Aishwarya to marry in Jodhpur?

The post-wedding bashes of Hollywood actress Liz Hurley and India-born businessman Arun Nayar next week are certainly the talk of town, but now Rajasthan is rolling out the red carpet for the marriage of none other than actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

Umaid Bhavan Palace may be the ceremony venue for Aishwarya and Abhishek, usually well informed sources say. Amitabh Bachchan has sent a couple of his close friends to Jodhpur to finalise the hotel bookings.

Besides Umaid Bhavan, as many as four other hotels are to be booked in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer for the marriage ceremonies. The Bachchans want these hotels booked for a period of three days from March 18. The marriage is expected to take place March 19, these sources said.

However, March being tourism season in Rajasthan, they are finding it difficult to get the required number of rooms in both the cities, the sources said.

Close friends of the Bachchans who are camping in Jodhpur for the last couple of days have started to look for other hotels nearby, the sources said. These include Khimsar Fort, Balsamand Palace and Rohet Fort.

Earlier, the marriage ceremony was slated to take place in Jaipur's City Palace premises but later the Bachchans decided that Jodhpur it would be.

Sources, however, said so far nothing has been finalised. As directed by astrologers, the Bachchan family is interested in tying the knot as soon as possible.

Before that though, Umaid Bhavan will play host to the much talked about post-wedding parties of Hurley and Nayar. The two will marry in London Saturday after which they will hold celebrations in Mumbai and Jodhpur.

Preparations for the party are reportedly in full swing in Jodhpur where the couple have booked the hotel from March 7-10.

The couple will hold two more parties at the imposing Mehrangarh Fort on March 9 and the pretty red sandstone structure, Balsamand Palace, 5 km from Jodhpur, March 10.

It is, of course, Umaid Bhavan Palace, that is the most sought after. Perched high above Jodhpur, it is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest residences in the world - set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens.

This golden-yellow sandstone monument was conceived on the grandest possible scale, in the fashionable Art Deco style of that time. After 15 years of construction, the 347-room palace was finally completed in 1943 - and has served as the principal residence of the Jodhpur royal family since.

Designed by renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the palace is a blend of Eastern and Western architectural influences. A part of the palace is still the residence of the royal family and another section house a museum displaying a range of antiques from the royal past. The hotel portion has 64 rooms, including 40 suites, and is now a part of Taj group of hotels.

Hollywood star couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had also stayed there during their recent India visit.

We saw them together in that sizzling item song in Shaad Ali's "Bunty Aur Babli". Now Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law-to-be Aishwarya Rai are teaming up for the first time for a whole film, Ram Gopal Varma's sequel to "Sarkar".

"News travels fast! Yes, it's true Aishwarya has agreed to be a part of 'Sarkar' 2. We only need to work out her dates. She'll of course play the lead opposite Abhishek," Ramu confirmed to IANS.

Considering how much in the news the pair is, Ramu has got quite a winning combination on his hands.

Laughs the filmmaker: "I don't think that's the primary motivation for my casting Aishwarya. You see, I've been meaning to work with her for some time. Who doesn't want to work with Aishwarya Rai? But the vehicle has to be worthy of her presence.

"I did approach her on a few occasions earlier. Things didn't work out. I'm glad she's on finally."

"Sarkar 2" which will carry forward the story of the "Godfather"-like political clan will now have Abhishek playing the messianic saviour of the downtrodden.

The Bachchan senior has confirmed that he would have comparatively less to do in the sequel to "Sarkar". But knowing Ramu's passionate proclivity for the Big B's histrionics there's bound to be more of Amitabh than it would outwardly appear possible.

"I can't say right now how much scope the three main stars will have in 'Sarkar 2'. But Amitji, Abhishek and Aishwarya are going to be seen in a light not cast before," revealed Ramu.

Abhishek Bachchan is not a good Super Hero

Al ready two issues have marred the shooting of the film Drona, and the latest developments in Indian Railway are making things worse. It is not the Budget but the Security reasons that have put hurdles for the movie shoot. The recent attacks on the Samjhauta Express have taken a toll on Goldie Behl. Drona had got a permission to shoot a dangerous action sequence on the Train top but after the attacks the permission has been retracted. However, producer Shrishti and director Goldie Behl continue to be optimistic: "We are looking at an end-of-the-year release. In any case we have to spend a long time on the editing table incorporating the special effects. We are yet to figure out another schedule for the action sequence to be shot on a railway track amidst sand dunes. The best part about this place is that the weather conditions are not too inclement. So we can easily come back after a while. Hopefully, things will work out soon." Looks like Super Hero Abhishek Bachchan (Of Course in the movie guys!) could not save the movie itself from further troubles.

Goldie Behl is determined to bring another Super Hero into Bollywood and Abhishek sure is making it possible with his precision and hard work. In the process Abhishek has turned into a head ache for the costume designer and jewelry designer of the film.

Being a Super Hero Abhishek has to have a necessary accessory and that will be a bracelet which has magical proportions and power source with it. So should it look dull and unimpressive? No, absolutely no…and Abhishek sure assured he got the best bracelet fit to be on his wrist. "This bracelet is crucial to the film's story, so Abhishek kept rejecting one design after another. He wasn't happy with what he was seeing at all. Finally, he approved one design and the jewellery designer dashed off to get several sets ready in time for the next schedule. Abhishek has taken a keen interest in every aspect of his role. He is hands-on about everything he is wearing in the film. In fact, his clothes and accessories were designed only after he approved them" says a source from the film unit. Looks like Bollywood's famous perfectionist Aamir has got a competitor.

But Wait…the new perfectionist went ahead a little too much. "But then, when the bracelets were sent to him in Prague, he refused to wear it even though he'd okayed the design. Needless to say, there was a lot of chaos and the designer got some more heartburn for the pieces. It's not like he was being difficult. He just wanted to make sure that everything was perfect," adds the source. Boss, 'Perfection ko Improve karma mushkil hai'!

You have adored the father-son duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan and you have always wanted more of them. So here they are again being cast together for their chemistry in Johnny Walker. The film will be a joint venture between Amitabh's AB Corps (the new Avtaar of ABCL) and Percept Picture Company. But the most interesting part of the news is that Big B himself in involved in writing the script for the film. Shoojit Sircar's this one focuses on an old couple who embark on the journey of self-discovery. Sircar hopes to rope in Vidya Balan opposite Abhishek. Amitabh Bachchan plays the main protagonist but Sircar prefers to stay tight lipped about the leading lady, only saying that she is an actress of great stature. The film, Sircar claims, will make people of all ages introspect and think about their lives.

Goldie Behl's Drona again in trouble

The movie that will introduce Abhishek as another Bollywood Superhero is deep into controversies. Goldie Behl's Drona starring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role ran into trouble when they unknowingly moved closer to the Pakistan border with a few foreigners who were also part of the film crew. The film unit was camping in Rajasthan's Bikaner town to shoot in the village of Sujrada. But they crossed the village and entered Agneyu, which is about 170 km from Pakistan and were then warned by the district magistrate.

"Based on newspaper reports we had sought details from the local coordinator of the film unit about where the shooting is taking place," R.J. Meena, additional district magistrate of Bikaner, told IANS. But the Bikaner district administration clarified that the film unit had taken official permission for the shoot and that there was no distinguishing border between the two villages. "The film unit has filed a reply and we are satisfied with it," the official added. The film had just faced a thunderstorm and Animal Welfare Board of India's wrath for the death of a horse on the sets.

Bachchans being questioned

Amitabh Bachchan says he wasn't the one who gave Jr. B the Bentley for his birthday and even Amar Singh denies having presented Abhishek with the car. So who is it who presented Abhishek with the car? Is it Ash's hush hush present for the would-be husband or some ardent fan of the would be superhero of Bollywood?



A few more questions have come up in media's library regarding Chopra's present for Mr Bachchan. Media is now wondering if the present was actually the fee for Mr Bachchan for acting in Eklavya. Why in this form? Well…tax bachane ke liye bhai!!! Par yeh andar ki baat hai!
