SRK's fit bod inspires Hrithik

03 Jul, 2007 06:03 pm ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES

Great minds sure think alike. Guess what is common between Bollywood baadshah Shah Rukh Khan and heartthrob Hrithik Roshan. The two stars have the same physical trainer Prashant Sawant, after an impressed Hrithik insisted on having a fit body like SRK.

Hrithik met SRK at his residence Mannat before SRK left for his long holiday to London. That's when some serious guy talk happened between the two, since Hrithik was quite impressed by the way Shah Rukh's body was looking.

And the next thing they did was exchange Prashant's number. A close source says, "Hrithik met Shah Rukh at his residence recently and was quite impressed with SRK's fit body. Hrithik immediately took Prashant's number and asked him to train him too."

Holidays over, SRK's back in action

Having only returned from his European holiday late Sunday night, Shah Rukh Khan is already getting ready to jet back to London for work. The star has a busy six months lined up ahead of him and well rested he is looking to get back into the thick of things.

A source close to the actor says that Khan already has his schedule chockablock for the coming months. "He is leaving for London tomorrow. It's a very short trip of just two days. While he was away, Chak De India was in post production. It is in fact almost done. Once back Yash Raj will begin promotions for the movie," he says.

Khan's own home production Om Shanti Om, starring Khan and debutant Deepika Padukone is almost ready too. "Certain parts need to be canned other than that the rest of the movie has been shot. Also there are two song sequences that need to be completed. So basically SRK will finish all his current shoots by the first week of August," he says.

Although there are plans of Shah Rukh returning to television for his second season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), dates are yet to be finalized. "He enjoyed the programme a lot and wants to surely come back," says our source, "But he has so much going on! No one knows anything about his dates – it was to begin post Om Shanti Om release but now it looks like Shah Rukh will be doing a movie with Adi (Aditya Chopra) so again he first needs to sort those dates before he can give his commitment to a long project like KBC."

In the next few months Shah Rukh Khan will be seen on the big screen in the soon to be released Shimit Amin's Chak De India, Viveck Vaswani's Dulha Mil Gaya with Sushmita Sen and Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om.

Shahrukh Khan's gets a new spacious studio and a new expensive car

Shahrukh Khan has been wanting to set up a whole new state of the art film studio for quite some time, however for now SRK has settled for shifting his 'Red Chillies' VFX studio to a bigger place as part of his expansion plans. The actor has just acquired a new bigger office located at Lokhandwala, Andheri where employees of the company will be shifting soon. The place is being renovated and will soon be ready. Meanwhile Shahrukh also seems to be expanding the number of cars that he has, he has recently purchased an Audi A6 state of the art car which is actually a gift for his two kids.

The new studio for the 'Red Chillies' staff will be equipped with state of the art equipment and the company also has plans to hire more personnel in view of the expansion plans. Shahrukh plans to have a first rate VFX studio and wants to be on par with international special effects studios. Currently 'Red Chillies' VFX studio is working on special effects for commercials and Farah Khan's film Om Shanti Om which is said to have some really good special effects. The company has previously worked on special effects for some of SRK's other films like Main Hoon Na, Paheli and Don, however they will soon be working on special effects for other bollywood films, commercials and even Hollywood films. According to insiders SRK has also bought some other land with the intention to expand his business ventures.

A source claims "We are getting closer to Shahrukh's vision of having a first class graphic designing studio. The new studio is a huge space and can support at least 300 professionals." Well other than a new studio, Shahrukh seems to be on a buying spree as he recently bought his two young kids an extremely expensive gift. SRK has splurged on a state of the art new Audi A6 car as a surprise gift for kids Aryan and Suhana. Apparently the car is equipped with several safety measures like anti lock brake system, electronic brake pressure distribution, hydraulic brake assist, head protection airbags for front and rear occupants. The car is not for Shahrukh himself who already has five other foreign made cars but for his kids. Well SRK's kids are surely lucky to have such a doting dad, after all how many young kids can boast of having their own personal car?

Another one of SRK's generous acts included taking good friend and actress Juhi Chawala's kids along with his own kids to Euro Disney in Paris. Juhi and Shahrukh's families and kids are quite close to each other. Shahrukh was recently holidaying in London with his family; on the professional front the actor will have two releases this year, Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om and Yash Raj Films Chak De India.

SRK keeps holiday promise to kids

Shah Rukh Khan gave his kids the holiday he promised - with little or no interference from work. The superstar is in Paris on the last leg of his vacation with wife Gauri and kids Aryan and Suhana, "Hes not been taking calls or replying to SMSes," a close friend of his said, "In the 40-day vacation, he did only two or three appearances that he had been requested to put in.

Even during his charity auction in London with MF Husain, SR was not particulary happy to be spending time away from his kids, the source added: "When the event came up, he was unsure till he was told it was for charity. And then he explained to Aryan and Suhana that he needed to be away for a while."

The holiday began with SRK rounding up his gang - Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Kapoor and Chunky Pandey - and their families, spending time together in London before the IIFA awards.

All the kids - Arjun Rampals daughter Mahilka and Myra, Sanjay Kapoors daughter Shania and Chunkys children Anarnya and Rysa - are close friends with SRKs kids and some of them go to school together. King Khan is also extremely fond of kids and it was no different during these holidays. He made sure that he took the kids to see his wax statue at Madame Tussauds. "The two kids were so proud to see their daddy there. And Khans life lies in Aryan and Suhana... in fact I think he actually enjoyed his statue once he saw that look in their eyes," says a source.

After IIFA was over, Karan Johar, threw a launch party in central London for LOfficiel India. Everyone from Shilpa Shetty to Upen Patel made an appearance. But Gauri walked in sans her hubby who was spending time once again with his children. And like Karan there were many other close associated that were looking to host SR in London but a source from the party says that"Khan had time only for his bachas."

But it wasnt all indoors for SRK. People spolted SRK shopping on Bond Street and Piccadilly Circus. A fan who saw SR with his daughter says that she almost didnt recognize the superstar. "He kept such a low profile.

None of that noise that comes with Bollywood stars. He had security with him but thats about it. I almost crossed him and didnt realized. I saw him buying things for his daughter and all his attention was on her... it was like it was their store and nobody else was there," says yet another woman who has been bowled over by King Khan.

Recently Khan was invited to Warwick Castle to open its latest attraction which included Khan landing on the castle grounds in a helicopter and start with a sword slashing red carpet ribbon cutting ceremony, flanked by fully armoured mediavel bodyguards. But that was just the start of the fun for SRK. After the inauguration Khan went for a private visit of the Castle with family.

And if you think this sounds a like a packed holiday theres still more.

Khan is capping off his holiday at Disneyland in Paris and this time he has invited co-actress Juhi Chawla and her son to join them. Spolted having a gala time with Mickey and Minnie, Suhana looked ready to convince her dad to set up another Mannat in the Disney grounds and knowing Khan to be the doting dad that is none of us would be surprised if it did hapen.

After such an action packed holiday wonder if Khan will need another hoiday to get over this one!

Shah Rukh Khan being sought to promote Basmati rice

05th July 2007 09.01 IST
By Agencies

After promoting cars, soft drinks, biscuits, chyawanprash, computers etc. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is being sought to promote Basmati rice.

SRK is being sought by rice exporters to promote Basmati rice, but there is a hurdle as the government has raised objections over the global Basmati promotion campaign.

Upset over objections raised by the government on their Rs 21-crore proposal to launch the campaign featuring SRK, rice exporters will present their case before 'higher-ups' in the Commerce Ministry.

"I will soon seek an appointment with higher officials in the Commerce Ministry and explain how this campaign, to be launched in Europe and Middle East, is important for the country's rice growers and the industry," All India Rice Exporters' Association (AIREA) Chairman Vijay Setia said.

The AIREA along with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) had finalised the campaign to be executed by Grey Worldwide and Crayon Advertising. It was to be financed by the Basmati Development Fund (BDF) which is created by contributions from exporters.

One of the objections raised by the government on a complaint from a Punjab-based association relates to the fact that the entire money lying with BDF would be spent on this high profile campaign.

"What is the use of keeping this money in a Fixed Deposit when we can get a definite value addition from advertising," Setia asked.

He said since the exporters are enjoying good times in the world market, they can again bring money to BDF many times over 'in a matter of days'.

'SRK will work with me someday'

5 Jul 2007, 0000 hrs IST,SMITA KHANNA ,TIMES NEWS NETWORK

More than style and attitude, it is actor Sharad Malhotra's honesty that stands out. He talks to LT about his ambitions and a few 'unpleasant offers'.

He believes he has an attitude. He agrees he's got style. He even assures you he'll "make Ekta Kapoor produce a serial for him, something other than banal saas bahu dramas". Arrogant or optimist? Call him what you will, but Sharad Malhotra doesn't intend to change. And why should he? It isn't everyday that an actor becomes a runaway success with his very first serial!

Admire his chocolate face as much as you want, but he's sporting enough to say: "I'm still waiting for the women to come and say they love me," even as he gives you another of those disarming grins. From being a successful talent hunt contestant to easily one of the more promising stars on telly, he's traversed the road with long strides.

"Yeah, but I prefer calling myself an actor, not a star. Stars have a very short life," he says before adding, "Winning the show helped me a lot, I got to know a lot of people, grew in confidence, socialised ... that helped me a lot." Does he mean networking helps? "Definitely," he avers, "talent comes later. You've got to know the right people, become powerful. They want to know how resourceful you are."

Era could he be more explicit please? "Well, I've had a few 'offers' which were not too pleasant, if you know what I mean. I had to tell them, 'Sorry, I'm not that kind of a guy', but it's all part of the game," he shrugs nonchalantly.

So much so for the bad guys, but he's been playing the role of a man-child for a while now. Is there a child in him too? "Oh yes! I'd say there are a lot of children in me," he guffaws and adds, "I like their energy levels." Is that also why he admires SRK? "Absolutely, man! I'm dying to meet him. I know he'll work with me someday."

Wow! Doesn't he believe in modesty, does he? We hear he's also keen to work with Ekta Kapoor... "Yes, but she'll have to make something else, not her saas bahu serials . She'd better, or I won't work with her," comes the self-assured response, almost making you wonder who's going to employ whom! Any wonder we've been hearing he has an attitude problem? He brushes aside the allegations with ease.

So, how did he add the oodles of oomph to match the attitude? "This is how I am," he claims, "I cannot be fake. I tried being what I'm not and I was a total disaster, so now I prefer being myself." You thought you'd have it easy with a nice, grounded Capricorn eating out of your hand? He's proved you wrong now, hasn't he? He also leaves you a tad amazed with his parting shot: "I expect a lot out of me."

Comes on Sharad, now, don't we too!

It's the time to Walt-z?

Walt Disney Pictures has approached Shah Rukh Khan with the idea of collaborating with his company, Red Chillies Entertainment. Reportedly they want to invest a whopping $30 million in the deal

We have news from reliable sources that Shah Rukh Khan has been approached by entertainment bigwig Walt Disney Pictures. The world famous company is keen to invest in SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment. Buzz is that they have offered to invest a whopping $30 million into the deal.

Representatives of Walt Disney Pictures flew down from Los Angles to London, where SRK was staying on his last trip to the UK. A source says, "Officials from Walt Disney Pictures flew down to meet Shah Rukh while he holidaying in London with his family. Walt Disney has plans of investing $30 million in the first phase of their partnership tenure. Given SRK's popularity abroad, other international companies like Sony Pictures and Rupert Murdoch's company had also shown interest in investing in Red Chillies Entertainment. Although SRK hasn't confirmed the deal yet, it might be interesting if he decides to do so."

When contacted Bobby Chawla, Shah Rukh's manager confirmed the news without divulging too many details. He said, "I don't want to comment on this subject. I only know that Walt Disney officials had met Shah Rukh, but I am not too sure what happened after that." Meanwhile Arjun Mitra, head of Red Chillies Studio, said, "All the information you're seeking is highly confidential and I can't talk about it."

However, our source reveals, "This is the second time that Walt Disney Pictures have tried to get in touch with SRK. The first time SRK couldn't meet them as he was too tied up with work. His manager, Bobby met the officials. But this time in London he was relatively free and did meet them finally."

SRK and Anupam whoop it up for Heyy Babyy

By Subhash K. Jha, July 11, 2007 - 11:57 IST

On Monday there was a very hush-hush post-completion spot of extra-special shooting for Sajid Khan who's much-talked about take on Leonard Nimoy's Three Men & A Baby entitled Heyy Babyy is being readied for release.

However one song accompanied by a few comic scenes had been left behind. Says a source, "Sajid wanted Shah Rukh to make an appearance in his directorial debut. After all, his sister Farah Khan has directed both her films with SRK in the lead. When Sajid requested Shah Rukh to put in a guest appearance in Heyy Babyy, SRK agreed without a second thought. His only condition was that Sajid would have to wait until SRK returned from his family holiday in London."

The minute SRK returned to Mumbai he allotted the dates to the anxious debutant director.

SRK's comic scenes and songs with Anupam Kher were shot at Film City from Monday onwards. Anupam and Shah Rukh had created a very special chemistry in Aditya Chopra's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mahesh Bhatt's Chahat and Amol Palekar's Paheli. Apparently Sajid has tried to create the same crackling and cackling chemistry in the Kher-Khan scenes.

Says the source, "The crew was in splits watching the duo's antics. The unit had a ball on Monday at Film City. Anupam and Shah Rukh added to Sajid Khan equaled a laugh riot. Loud laughter and grand guffaws kept emanating from the studio floors where they were shooting."
