well i would have to disagree. . if Juhi was standing there. she can introduce him as her better half.. But .. if she is not there. then He would Naturally introduce himself as Juhi's better half. Like at gatherings, office parties or social gathering .. its like if You and your husband/wife go to his/her office party .. and and his/her friends ask.. who are you .. U can say .. I am ______'s better half. or i am ______'s husband/wife.. Nothing wrong with that.. Grammatically it is correct..
Yes he was...now we dont see him much on TV..i guess he comes in Balika Vadhu now/..not sure!

Disagree Mia ji.
Spirit of this phrase is according superiority to your other half and politely acknowledging, one holds his / her spouse in higher esteem than self.
One would never really come across someone introducing himself / herself as better half of his / her spouse...unless finer appreciation of spirit behind this expression is lacking...or...one is Parantha lover's hubby!😛

Well here in New york... we Use the term Better half as One's Spouse no superiority/inferiority reference... so it is very commonly used here. since both spouses are considered of equal status .. maybe the part of the world you are from has a different use of this phrase .. but If sachin said that Here, it would be grammatically correct.

In American English, a student can write a tyre as TIRE and a foetus as FETUS and its all fine.😊
Grammar isn't everything in English. There are contexts and inferences. A PRIDE of Lions has nothing to do with their being proud of themselves just as raining cats and dogs doesn't mean dogs and cats are pouring down from skies!
No one will say I AM THE BETTER HALF of my wife / husband...(Unless...refer to explanation given before!).😊
