Am happy that some TMs have accepted that Imam wasnt correct in his speech. Unfortunately his behaviour is being excused by some under the garb of anger and because it was targetting Prince. Please understand i didn't have a problem with it being said to Prince... I had a problem with his mentality which permitted him to speak stuff that he has no right to say. Even if you are angry you won't say things that you know can hurt someone's sentiments. At least that's what i learned.

trust me, we are all guilty of that.. even on these forums, we type stuff without considering if it might hurt someone else.. just so that we can put our point across! happens all the time. if I go thru my history I can find examples of it. you will too if you dig not too deep. but all that's fodder for another moral debate.

as for imam, I dont condone his behaviour or actions... but those are what have made him popular. many simply adore his brazen attitude and words.. however disrespectful it may be. I, for one, am unimpressed by imam.

Let me start by saying that I know and am fully aware that Imam was referring to Prince clapping when he called him a hijra. While this is certainly not a big deal (as Mandana was also calling Rishabh a woman and just name calling won't change someone) when Imam offered to train Prince on how to clap so as to increase his income as a transgender it became offensive and disgusting.

In a country like India where parents readily kill or throw away transgender children because of family shame and no future prospects, isn't it a responsibility of every celeb appearing on national (and international) television to try and change that mentality instead of trying to say that a particular community just because of their birth are limited and therefore can only earn their living by begging and clapping on the roads. Instead of propagating the society's views about how transgender people should clap in order to supplement their income, Imam could have just shut up and not demonstrated his "mindset and background" just like he keeps abusing Prince and Rishabh at all times.

And tbh when Prince raised the topic with Imam when the task was over that Hijras are also humans and so please don't say such things, Imam realised his mistake which is why he started doing all the drama of group hugs' and lets exclude Prince' as he was aware of the shithole he had opened up by his words. Unfortunately he had already spewed his venom and in doing so contributed towards increasing the neglect and disregard that Indian society shows towards transgenders.

This one part has upset me much more than all the last 90 odd days as while they were abusing each other no one (except Mandana and she is a different story all together) has been taking things to communities and genders.

Do other members also hold such views or do you feel I am being over sensitive? Is there any hope for a change in the society when these so called celebrities can go on TV and broadcast their nonsense??

Agree with you.
Even in a task, Imam should have restricted himself to other ways of irking Prince rather than dragging a certain community, unnecessarily in a derogatory way.
I am surprised how the channel aired that part. They should have edited it to avoid hurting sentiments.Or Bigg Boss should have interfered and stopped Imam from saying such stuff right then.

As far as I know, Transgender is an "umbrella" term for various sexual minorities in the world like MTF transsexuals, FTM transsexuals, intersex etc , also including "hijra" community.

So, Imam wasn't actually being offensive to entire transgender community.

But he was CERTAINLY a bit offensive to "hijra" community because they are very open and visible in India.
They are often referred to as "Chakkas"
Clapping in a certain way has become synonymous with the hijra community.

Imam, being a homosexual himself, shouldn't have brought "transgenders" in between.

Sometimes I feel so bad for transgenders.

Prince earned my respect when he said "Wo bhi insaan hote hain".

We people have no idea how much trouble these people face in their lives.

U are right
This was disgusting
Imam has no dignity and he is the one that is spineless
Whenever something doesn't go his way he changes colors
He is a big loser and I love that prince is taking a stand

Everyone on Indian television does not have a responsibility to try and change the society's opinions on specific issues. They can have opinions and express them, even if they are inappropriate, as long as they don't violate the rules. I don't think Imam said it to offend anyone either, he was just trying to irritate the other contestants. Bigg Boss shouldn't have aired it on television.
