I've been following big boss 8. I read some of the post and comments made on this forum and appreciate everyone's comments. There are various camps here, and some strong sentiments supporting various individuals. I am not supporting anyone or in anyone's camp. But I'm compelled to make this post today - to get this off my chest and give my perspective. I hope that there are people out there who (a) share the same sentiment as me (b) offer a differing perspective from what I've observe to justify this weekend's drama.
I love Salman Khan - not in a die-hard fan type of way but simply because his humor, wit, his craziness, his nature of stepping up and helping people - his being human campaign and his big heart, his love for his family. I think he is a great host for the most part, except that sometimes it is perceived that he is being biased or partial (perhaps an editing issue - because Salman mentioned that he took Punit to task for calling KT bimbo or something to that effect - I never saw that being aired on my side of the continent).
However, over the last few weekends (and for a long time now), it is very clear KT and UP are being bashed. UP's lip leaking tale has run it's cause (in my opinion). KT's intelligence (or lack of) has been the butt of many jokes. She's being ridiculed inside and outside the BB house. SK is so focus on her and asking her pointed questions (even she has become so afraid that she's consciously thinking what to say). From where I see, that is a result of being constantly abuse and ridiculed.
My heart went out to KT today and all women like her. I think KT is a simpleton and the derogatory name calling is uncalled for, especially by Punit. Salman may not have called her dumb but his quiz, his retorts are pulling her back up. Even when Salman's silly question regarding if Punit's team won, why the points were equal to the losing team. While I don't agree with KT's in terms of the points, I can appreciate that in a team, we have slacker, some dead weight and some contributors. Individually, some may be dead weight, some may not pull the weight and some may go par excellence. Her explanation was justifiable, team versus individual point of view (even if is not persuasive).
I don't get it. Everyone has a different learning speed, why discriminate someone if there are not smart or intelligent. I view KT as a simpleton because she got swayed by the others in an attempt to be a team player. She wasn't the mastermind behind the way the tasks were carried out in the initial days, and she got swayed but Dimpy said something about the vice-captain. Everyone in the house is playing a game. For some odd reason, I don't think KT is. My rationale being she's a simpleton - to play this type of game, she would need to be cunning. She seems like a real deal - She's obsessed about her looks, controlling, possessive, and competitive (as seen in the tasks - because she wants to win), but lack the intelligence, foxy cleverness to play any game.
Today I felt that KT and UP were specifically targeting. Salman's abrupt temper and walking off the stage was uncalled for (I think it was a defensive reaction on his part) - he lost control of the plot and instead of apologies and saying that "hey, sorry KT, bad joke but looks like things are getting out of hand and context - he stormed off). When he came back he could have played it cool and be a gentleman but instead lashed out at KT. Women have the right to become emotional, especially after being the butt of the joke for weeks on end. God knows, if week after week, I've been pushed and pushed by the host, and after every housemates unhappy with my captaincy and week I've had with these housemates, and then being subjected to yet another round of the old boys club joke, I'd became emotionally exhausted too.
What kind of message are we sending out? I can understand that everyone was joking, but why stretch it. Not everyone can take these kind of jokes. And why stand for these old boys club jokes! Which century are we living in? Right off the bat, Salman started on KT and he never let up until the end. It's no wonder the girl finally lost it. But what was heart breaking was that she kept apologizing to him and explaining that it is not because of him - yet he did not relent. JERK!
Not intended to offend anyone. Just wanted to pour my sentiments out.
