dude, the reason for saving Dimpy over Pritam/Gutam/Sonali is simple and it is said role conflict...

this is like you are an employee in a company and have to an important meeting but someone in your family is sick... who would you choose??

So the reason for him saving Dimpy over PGS specially S is coz Dimpy contributes more to the household than Sonali and PG will already be saved by janta, so a better option would be Dimpy... whereas Sonali 'mujhe ghar jaana hai, mujhe ghat jaana hai' and her contribution to the house is almost 5%.. plus yup, she might prove to be a good friend, but doesn't work that much compared to Dimpy... thats why the betterment of the household over friendship...
