On a serious note: if you subtract the romance angle, there is actually not a single good thing that Upen did for Sonali.

He did not stand for her during Ali's incident.
He kept voting her during nominations
He makes crude remarks on her to her face and behind her.
He is much older than sonali (almost 10 years older)

Not really sure why sonali maintains that friendship with Upen.
