They are not making Gautam hero, these people in the house are trying to become heros by fighting with Gautam. What they are forgetting is audiences are intelligent.
I agree that Gautam comes across as arrogant and has some attitude problem. But that is required for protecting his self esteem in that house. He is not using it to hurt others. Even the housemates who said he has attitude problem are taking back their words. I have not seen him use his arrogance or attitude for teasing a girl. That is enough to say that he is a good guy.
Gautam is a young guy. He is taking wisest decisions compared to all the others in that house.
