It's called provoking.
He pokes at their vulnerability, smiles and waits for reaction. That is one of the most awful thing you could do. I don't care if this is for a game, you do it because it is in your personality. Be very wary about being friends with people like this, they can turn on you like a cobra and do the same thing.
