Everyone is judged on this show - itâs what they sign up for. Yes, their personal lives should be off limits - that I can agree, and also that unfortunately, much of social media doesnât adhere to that caveat. But Shamita is not the only casualty of that - plenty of contestants bear the brunt of prejudice and pre-conceived notions.
But this thread itself is judging viewers and stereotyping their opinions - by claiming that the source of every anti-Shamita opinion is rooted in an irrational hate or agenda against Bollywood, or worse - in sexism and misogyny.
People will watch this show and have their own interpretations, opinions, likes and dislikes - as Iâm sure you do.
I, for one, think that Shamita is neither classy nor strong - when one bothers to look beyond the superficial. And it is her conduct on this show that shapes my view - as opposed to any preconceived notions. Jhagda shuru hua nahi with mere mortals like Umar ke Shamitaâs rather non-classy language and body language pops out, and her touted grace takes a holiday.
And despite a heavily privileged journey - started off privileged, barely spent a day in the jungle, has her dietary needs always taken care of, has had her brother, boyfriend and friend sent in respectively for her - not to mention Salman on the weekends. And yet - a little bit of negative feedback, and a couple of her relations leaving - is all it takes for her to want to quit and go home. Thatâs not strength - and I donât measure strength on superficial levels.
She speaks her mind - indeed, she does. But the content of that and delivery of it - viewers will decide how they feel about it. You think it makes her a winner. I think sheâs weak AF, orders people about, is hugely entitled, self-absorbed, rude and condescending, thinks the world is her due and treats people like specks of dirt unless they toe to her line. To each their own.
