BB has shown why the #MeToo movement is a failing one. Disgusting.

Dear All,

This is my first post and it is done after much much disturbed feelings from an episode two days ago. Be it Paras-Mahira, Sana- Paras, Siddharth- Sana, Madhurima-Vishal, they have all failed to uphold any dignity pertaining to equality of genders. It is not just disturbing but also very very disgusting to see.

Biggest Culprits : MAHIRA and Paras (In that order).

Mahira once tried to rally Sana against Vikas Bhau during a task saying "if you don't want someone to touch you, you tell him and see how he backs off. I'll show you if anyone behaves like that with me". Miss Mahira Sharma, what we are seeing is, a 22 year old girl who is CLEARLY aware she needs to be cosying up to a Mr Chhabra to go ahead in the game and despite continuously telling him I don't like you kissing me, he does. Flash forward to the episode 2 days ago when Paras is telling her "maze tu leti hai" to which she is seemingly angry, and then like the phuski bomb she is, admits she likes it and falls into his arms. Paras, knowing full well he has the upper hand, continues to exploit her. Why does she need to justify to paras why she wants him to not kiss her.

In the real world, this is exactly what workplace harassment is. Paras is aware his position is theoretically higher than Mahira's and feels entitled to do whatever the hell he wants because beyond saying "Don't do it" and complaining to every other person jokingly, she can't do squat. And that's the problem, she can't do anything about it despite how much Ajay or Kajol cringe, it has become a laughing matter. It doesn't matter how many Artis, Vishals, Laxmi Aggarwals there are who are still living the repercussions of being molested or harassed, Paras and Mahira should still be kept in the house to garner more viewership.

Mr Paras, it is jerks like you who give rise to rape culture. That the girl may say no but actually she likes it and wants it. It is morons like you who walk around with chests so wide that y'all are guys and if you say the girl cannot slap you, she shouldn't. But if the girl says stop invading my personal space, that is an invitation to go further into that personal space. DISGUSTING.

Siddharth-Sana.

She is 25 knowing full well that the audience is game for her being all coochie-cooey with a 40 year old man. Not a fan of Siddharth's but his maturity is displayed in how he's handling this. He knows that what she's doing is riding on his name to bring herself further, given that he made friends in that house with that very intention, he is absolutely fine with it. Her obsessive behaviour about him needing to need her once she's out of the house, pretending she's a kid who craves attention and her other ridiculous antics are working. People are liking her in a vulnerable position in the name of entertainment.

In the real world, would we find this as entertaining if we were related to a Sidharth or a Sana? Would we think her threats of self harm are cute if she were harassing our brother? Would we think him being all over her in a blanket, calling her bachi bachi and kissing her would be acceptable if we had sisters like her who are childlike?

Madhurima-Vishal

Toxicity at its absolute finest. Domestic Violence on National Television that is encouraged to maintain the number game in the show. If it were Vishal beating up Madhu, would her reaction be the same? Why does Big Boss have a "it's their personal matter" stance when it's accessed by billions outside. The same billions who were introduced to Himanshi and Sana in the same house. The very billions who were told of Arhaan's personal life dramas. The same billions whose attention you need to sustain your show. Why are these billions being taught that if a girl beats a guy, it's equality. It's only a guy that can be toxic and that girls can get away with a slap on the wrist... because well, they are girls.

If a Sidharth takes on a Asim and pushes him, he is nominated for 2 weeks. Just 2 weeks. If he repeats that offence, he is nominated again for 2 weeks. If a Rashmi throws tea on a Sidharth, they'll just spend the full weekend dissecting it and allowing Sidharth to come out victorious. If a Madhurima isnt able to control her hands and/or temper, she's sent to jail along with the victim. If a Mahira says no to being kissed, she is still kissed and no other person is willing to take a stand or to tell him hey Mr Paras, that is harassment. But if the same Mahira slaps Paras, it is a topic for debate that she shouldn't have.

The #MeToo is a dying campaign because there are toxic shows and personalities like these that inculcate the idea that what happens between a guy and a girl is between them and no-one should interfere. Not unless the guy is a Sidharth Shukla who is warned that hey, this chick digs you, you better be careful because things will get tough FOR HER otherwise. Why just her? Why not him that hey you were behaving in X manner with her and lead her on in some ways, you would have to bear the repercussions?

Thankyou for writing this point. This resonates exactly with what I feel.

The show is perpetuation Rape Culture, Toxic Masculinity and a very lop-sided version of gender equality. It’s promoting the idea of Dysfunctional and unhealthy relationships be it Pahira, Sidnaz or Virima.

Equating physical abuse and injury ( what Madhu did to Vishal) to Instigation( Vishal throwing water on Madhu) is the absolute last nail in the coffin on the show. If situations were reversed, and telecasted on National Tv- Vishal would be in a real Jail right now.

All of this has been done so as to justify Shukla’s previous actions on the show, but in doing so they’re setting bad precedents.

The show is getting its TRP but alongside it is promoting some of the worst values ever and this whole idea of promoting Kabir singh type relationships and the filth they bring alongside is sad to see.

The moral compass is so skewed this season that it's not even funny!

You are exactly right about the power imbalance in the apparent relationships in the house and how much it's bothersome even though it is seemingly consesnsual.

Why people are connecting a reality show with MeToo ?

Enjoy the show or don’t enjoy for biased reasons but at the end of the day it is made for the entertainment.

You are right. They are seemingly consensual for the sake of TRP and progress of the concerned players.

Sid and Sana quarrel but come back to sleep under the same blanket.A forty year old man doesn't realise how his actions are degrading.

Mahira and Paras strange relationship. She has given enough hints that the stumbling block to take this to the next level is her mother. Her mother doesn't know that there are no free lunches. If Paras is supporting her, he expects a price and that price is the honour of her daughter. She mildly rebuked him for 'kissing" but not a word on what is seen and shown under the blankets.

Madhu and Vishal are there for the money with zero compatibility.

This. This is exactly why! One actor's "workplace" ie the Bigg Boss set is where your entertainment comes from. And the only way you're entertained is because this actor is harassed in his/her workplace with no place out and despite ppl seeing what is happening, they won't do anything about it.

The MeToo movement is Similar to other social justice and empowerment movements based upon breaking silence designed to empower women through empathy and strength in numbers, especially young and vulnerable women, by visibly demonstrating how many women have survived sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace.

And your attitude is exactly the point I am making. That people now look at these issues as just mere"entertainment".
