Asim will not go back to shukla now. He may become cordial time to time but that is all. Je used to be called chela when he was with sidharth. I still rememebr all those times when he used to try talking to sidharth and the latter used to shut him up. Even as someone who didn't like asim at that time, i used to find it strange how he is okay with shukla demeaning him all the time... he used to literally ask asim to shut up and asim would... shuklas attitude after that bori task was pathetic. That was when asim looked and expressed his disappointment. Initially he took it in his stride because somewhere he mightv been intimidated by shukla.
Compare that to his equation with rashmi where the latter LISTENS to him ..even asks for his advice... in some way, it helps boost his confidence .. even if its not as deep or as strong as his initial friendship with shukla, its way more dignified...and respectable. He gets that... and is also rid of the chela tag. Hes also smart enough to realise that to win or to reach top 3, he has to go up against Shukla...being a sidekick to anyone aint gonna help... sticking up for rashmi is something he does because he genuinely cares for her ( i think ) and knows he will be set up as the main competitor to shukla unlike gadha paras.
