Chapter 5

The party had just started when she noticed him. " What are you looking at like that?" the girl who had accompanied her to the party asked.

" Do you know that man who is standing in the middle of the room with that woman who is wearing red stilettos?"

" So you've already fallen for him, eh?" her friend said, nudging her elbow.

" Do you know him or not?"

" I think you should find out his name by talking with him. He likes straightforward women and not loners like you. Meanwhile I'll get myself a drink."

"Hey! Veer! Wait a sec..." She muttered few colourful words for the girl who was also her best-friend.

Veer is true, she thought. But no, this time she will show her what a lioness she can be. Just as she took a few steps towards the charming man, he turned his head towards her, making her stomach flutter.

Observing that the beautiful young lady was staring at him, he gave her a dazzling smile. He went towards her and kissed her hand. " May I know the lady who has given me the opportunity to admire her beauty?"

"Ratan... Ratan Punwar" she stammered.

After sometime...

Veer observed the dancing couple. She had never thought that he'd even talk to her. He's 26, wouldn't matter much if Ratan ran away with him, she thought.

" I've informed Hansa about Ratan" said Rawatji.

" Did you tell them..."

" Yes, I spoke to them about Ajab. They promised not to tell her .. but Pratap, everything's going to be okay, then why all this? Why are you keeping her away?"

Then Rawatji realized that Pratap knew something.

" You know something about Ratan, don't you?" It was a statement more than a question.

Pratap glanced at him worriedly. " I know I shouldn't hide this from you. Even at that time you had helped us so much Rawatji."

" What is it?"

" I had seen her once before in court, when we had filed that case against that thug. I recognized her when I saw the body."

" You mean Uday Singh?"
