Hi guys! here's the next post. Enjoy!
Chapter 4
Pratap and his group had assembled in the conference room.
Pratap: We cannot let the murder of an unknown woman disturb our performance. We have to go on with our next project, i.e. to win the contract offered by the Khan International so that we can work together which will be very beneficial for us ...
A staff member knocks and comes inside and informs Pratap that Mr. Chundawat from the Investigation Bureau (IB)wants to have a word with him. Pratap went out to meet him in the reception and after exchanging greetings he took him to his cabin.
Mr C: I must have mentioned this before that I'm handling the case now. Had Ajab not been my niece I would not have come to tell you this.
Pratap: Sir I'm very grateful...
Mr C: (smiling) You can call me Rawatji, Pratap.
Pratap: (smiles) So have you got something that we should know.
Rawatji's face darkened.
Pratap: Is it something that I wouldn't want to know?
Rawatji: The revolver you found had the fingerprints of two persons. One of the prints matched with that of the victim and the other one could not be traced as it was a partial one.
Rawatji paused. Pratap forwarded a glass of water at him. Rawatji took it.
Pratap: Who's she Rawatji?
Rawatji: The fingerprints were of Ratan Punwar, Ajab's younger sister, who had run away a few years ago..
Pratap was shocked. I was right by not bringing her along, he reckoned.
Rawatji: Pratap?
Pratap: I don't know what to do.
Rawatji: Don't worry. i'll take care of everything. You take care of my Ajab.
Pratap: I've not brought her along because of all this... I didn't want her to be worried about this or me.
Rawatji: It was a good decision. Don't worry, we will figure out soon. Anyways, it was very smart of you finding the gun. I'm impressed.
Pratap smiled. Rawatji left soon after that.
A few hours later...
Pratap stepped out of the shower and proceeded to change into his comfy pajamas and started combing his wet hair when his mind drifted somewhere else...
The only difference was that she was the one combing him while he hurriedly packed his belongings into the case ... he was afraid he might miss the flight, but he didn't, he reminded himself... and that was the reason why he was now standing alone in his room, alone in the whole house. He got into the bed and tried to sleep but he couldn't. Her beautiful face kept drifting into his mind and her memories... it was the night he left...
"Ajab, you know I've to leave you behind even if I don't want to. You know that right?, he said, glancing at her. He knew she would be upset. " It wont be safe for you to go with me right now, I'm really sorry I broke my promise..." he trailed off as he felt his cell vibrating. He picked it up. " Hello...yes, any update on the situation...oh no...I'm coming asap...". Her beautiful doe kohl-lined eyes stared at him, searching him for answers. Pratap looked at her with guilt in his eyes. She knew immediately. "Do you have to leave this evening for London?", she asked in a low voice. He nodded. "You should change first you know" he told as she stood up to help him with the packing "I don't think you'd be able to move around in your wedding attire" She quietly nodded and as she went past him, he caught her arm which was decorated with henna till her shoulder. He stared at her doe eyes which were almost brimming with tears. "Ajab I never wanted to this for you. I don't want to leave you behind like this. I don't know how bad this can get and I've got a bad feeling about it. I promise, if I find that it will be okay, I'll come back and take you along the very next day. She smiled but still her eyes told a different story. Pratap took her soft hands in his and intertwined his fingers. He sensed what she wanted. Removing his hands, he put his chiseled arms around her, pulling her into a tight embrace. She too wrapped her arm around him, trying to show the depth of her feelings. He too wanted her to know how much he cared for her...
And that's when he realized how much her absence affected him, he knew he loved her... a lot. I'm a jerk he thought... when he suddenly remembered that he had promised to call her.
Hello? Ajab?
I'm so glad you called me...
Missing me, hmm?
A lot.
Ajab, there is something...
He stopped. He didn't want to tell her. If he told her she'll come running the very next day and he didn't want that.
What were you saying Pratap?
Um, nothing dear. It's just that it might take a little longer than expected to clear up. Don't worry, I'm fine and it has got nothing to do with me..
Then why don't you come and take me along?
I can't. I... I'm just too busy these days, he lied.
I think you are not telling me everything Pratap...
It's getting late, I should go to sleep. Miss you. Bye. He disconnected the call.
What is he hiding? she wondered. She had to find out.
Enjoy guys! And don't forget to leave me lots of love in the end😊
