I am not sure how many Akbar killed and how many people Maharana Pratap killed. What we all should not forget they were kings and whatever they did was to protect their kingdom and citizens. Both expanded their kingdoms. Akbar dreamed large entire indian continent and Pratap dreamed of uniting Rajputhana. But both were warriors not some freedom fighters like some suggest. Neither were they benovalant and good hearted like an Humayun who would run to help enemies too and treated them also nicely.
Ashoka killed 99 brothers and countless people in war to become king of almost entire subcontinent.
What brought about a change in both? For Ashoka it was Kalinga war destruction and for Akbar it was birth of his children. When a man becomes a father he starts thinking like a father not like a warrior usually.
Akbar was liked not for his wariior skills he was liked for his reforms like banning sati, child marriage, widow emarriage, equal property to daughters from father's property etc
Reagrding Akbar's upbringing of Jehangir(its similar to very rich kids getting spoiled in 21st century and losing their way because parents are not available or do not give attention and also he was sent away from family at very young age to battle so no proper guidance at younge age when values etc are formed). Jehangir revolted against Akbar not only to become king but other personal reasons between a father-son(similar to teenage son rebelling agianst parents). But atleast he did not wage war and kill family members to become king(like Shah jahan and others after him). Somewhere that showed he may have not had a good upbringing but his conscience was still there(except for abul fazl murder case). And he never demolished temples like Akbar or others after him. He even gave funds to build Keshav Rai temple, Kashi temple renovations etc. Other than Sikhs he was fine with all other religions.
Why did Akbar dislike Pratap so much? No idea was it only land and trade route not really there was something personal.
One reason could be Humayun helped Vikramaditya to gain the kingdom after defeating bahadur shah of gujarat but was late and karnavati did jauhar. Their family felt Humayun purposely came late so one reason is there.
Second reason was meera bai because after Akbar met her in 1555 or something at dwarka, the mewar family were angry that she met a mughal etc. When Udai Singh sent a few preists to call her back to mewar(yes pratap never went as per real history) she disappeared(went away from dwarka) because she feared persecution and backlash from mewar. She had faced enough persecution to trust them or go back to them.Meerabai was a great feminist in those times she opposed sati and refused to burn on her husband pyre, she left her in laws house and lived independently(which was again tough in those times). She was a great saint.

welcome to the discussion!

I am not talking about how many soldiers were killed because they come prepared to fight and die for their leaders, I am talking about the innocent civilians at Chittod who were killed for no reason at all...there are estimates of 30,000 people who were killed - I really dont know what Akbar was thinking!

Pratap being from Rajputana, he saw it mewad as his land, his motherland and if he secured it, it would not be wrong. Akbar had no business poking his nose there if he was not wanted there!

And if a nation is unwilling to be a part or ascend to another nation, then let them be, I think Akbar must have realised that some point because his empire didnt go past Marwad!

I do not support Ashok, and I have made it clear in my previous post that he was stopped by fate and realisation.

I said that Akbar and Jehangir had in place reforms but their successors were no good, so it wouldnt be wrong to say the Mughal dynasty should have ended in that time! Im not a fan of the coup d' etat tradition that the Mughals unofficially followed (esp after Akbar)...

Of course there is no historical account of Pratap going to Meerabai at Dwarka, of course this show likes to be creative like other history based shows...I do believe that Meerabai took Samadhi because if a saint like her had left and settled somewhere else people would have known (you cant hide a devotee like that for long)!

As I have said before, Akbar was a reformer compared to his ancestors, but I think the name of the Mughal Dynasty would have been better off without most of his successor except for Jehangir.

I completely agree Akbar should not have murdered 30000 innocent civbilans. He did so after heavy loses to mughal forces. Hope they show all this in show and why he did it?
Yes, Pratap wanted to be independent King and Akbar wanted whole indian continent. I too agree that everyone likes their independence and appreciate Pratap stood alone and fought when all other rajput kings were joining Akbar and sending their daughters to his harem just to please him whether he asked for that or not????
Why should daughters suffer because their fathers/brothers are not barve to face Akbar? OK my argument is 21st century but still i do not agree with sending your daughters/sisters to an enemy King only to get in his good books and keep yourself safe?????
coup d' etat tradition that the
I also agree usually like all other empires why they cannot make tradition of eldest son King all others help him???? Mughal empire destroyed itself because of wrong succession policy!!!!

you all walk me up from my sleep i was dreaming about our pratap with chankay buddhi ...
spanay dekhu gi to usko sakar kar paa yee gay naa...😆

with this hot discussion 😃 can i jump in

if we peek into our history back war killing was part of their life. Before most of kings use to live happily in their boundary only power greedy kings use to run for war. Majority time War use to happen between brothers and relative and that is also for power just dirty politics. Its always fight against good /bad.

India was famous for its name as golden bird we had lots of gold (still do 😆 )

that attracted all mugals and afghans at that time they are outsider and belong to different religion and different life style too To get power they have done everything. Lots of killing and Cruelty did happen people had to fight or die to pray their GOD.

I am not taking any side but i have not seen any one celebrate their victory after knowing almost everyone in chittor did suicide after their defeat. Akbar walk around town on elephant. and top of that damage pride of chittor... its fort. Akbar had no brain earlier ...too much huger for power and land and sure at that time hindustan needed some one like pratap who can fight against not only pratap few other rajputs also did fight back and once mugal got their brain back and did started respecting other religion (akbar did later in his life) things got better. We do have kutubmirar, tajmhal etc as landmark in india but we had somnath mandir too and it was destroy so badly that no way we can get that back.

BK was way too bad that akar has to kick him out 😆 he use to kill all solder after winning war even they surrender.

this is one example and this is way later in his life

Rathore Kalyandas threatened to kill both Mota Raja Rao Udaisingh and Jahangir because Udai Singh had decided to marry his daughter to Jahangir. Akbar on hearing this ordered imperial forces to attack Kalyandas at Siwana. Kalyandas died fighting along with his men and the women of Siwana committed Jauhar.

now this was threat just for that akbar did war and killing and by now he knows how rajput boold works.

Akbar in his early years was not only a practising Muslim but is also reported to have had an intolerant attitude towards Hindus.[9] In 1579, towards the middle of his reign, he boasted of being a great conqueror of Islam in a letter to the ruler of Turan, Abdullah Khan[10] and was also looked upon by orthodox Muslim elements as a devout believer committed to defending the religion against infidels.[11] His attitude towards the Hindu religion and its practices did not have appreciable impact after his marriage alliances with Rajput princesses which all took place in early 1560s though he was also perceived as not being averse to performing Hindu rituals despite his Islamic beliefs.[11]

Akbar's Hindu generals could not construct temples without the emperor's permission. In Bengal, after Man Singh started the construction of a temple in 1595, Akbar ordered him to convert it into a mosque.[94] He gave two villages for the upkeep of a mosque and a Madrasa which was setup by destroying a Hindu temple.[95] During the early part of Akbar's reign, his army was responsible for the demolition of rich Hindu temples which had gold deities in the Doab region. However, he subsequently made amends for the same by donating a golden umbrella to cover the deity at a temple which had been demolished, and allowing the conversion of a mosque into Hindu temple at Kurukshetra.

with that just wanted to ask does any one know to get compete family tree of akbar till today?

Aaiye, padhariya, aapki kami thi! 😆
no one will be persecuted for their views, there is freedom of speech lol

There is a famous local story in Mandu, MP, where Baz Bahadur was the ruler, his wife Rani Roopmati was beautiful and an artiste also, legend as it that Akbar told Baz bahadur to send his wife to entertain his court, in response Baz Bahadur said - send your queen to entertain my court then I will send mine! 😆

there is a family tree on wikipedia, the last mughal abducted the throne during the 1857 war under british pressure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mughal_emperors
