Bhabhi was originally all about Saroj (suhana step mother). She got married and on the way to her in-laws house an accidnet occurred where 2 wedding parties were involved. Saroj hadn't seen her husband's face and was accidnetly taken to Tilak's house and there they discovered that he wasn't her hisband. They decided to not say anything to the family as Tilak's father had just died in the accident. Over time, Tilak and Saroj fell in love and when the truth came out everyone accepted that she was Saroj and not pushpa as Tilak 1st wife was called. Sarog gave birth to a lil boy and was kidnapped by a woman who was her friend but blamed Saroj and tilak for the death of her fiance. Tilak was told that his son was dead by the woman and later Saroj gave birth to a another lil boy. He got kidnapped again and then during the fight at the clifftop, saroj fell and was assumed dead. Tilak got married to another woman during the following years but was still in love with his saroj. After 20 years leap, saroj is now a mother of 2 girls. The father found sarog in the river and was hospitalised and was discovered to have lost her memory. She brought up the man's 2 young girls, who was called Suhana and Alpa. She now has the illness of forgetting things. Suhana falls in love with Saroj younger son. His step mother discovers Saroj is alive and interferes in the budding romance between Suhana and the younger son and on the wedding day suhana is left at the altar and Saroj is seen by her past in-laws. During this time, Alpa meets an architect who has been asked to improve the school where she works. It is realised that he is Saroj's elder son. They both fall in love. Rumours flair up about the relationship between Alpa's boyfriend and suhana. Suhana falls pregnant with her boyfriend but he disavows that the child is his. Suhana miscarries and is heartbroken. Alpa marries someone else and leaves for america after hating her sister for her illegal relationship with her boyfriend. Saroj gets her memory back but decides to stay with her present and not her past. Suhana marries her boyfriend but he now hates her and has decided to make her life a living hell. He has a girlfriend who he openly meets. Saroj comes to the house and makes her husband 2nd wife admit to everything she has done (she is a baddie now) a police officer is helping saroj get the proof of the other woman wrongdoing. Her 2nd husband is jailed for terrorizing the chopras and half-way through her fight, saroj leaves when tilak is in a coma and is fighting for his life. She prays to god and he is better and before he can get to saroj she leaves. After that Suhana is the 'bhabhi' of the house. Her husband comes back to the house after leaving and again falls in love with suhana but by now she is in love with her brother-in-law (Tilak's sister son) Nihaal. Their love is unspoken. her husband's mistress falls pregnant and she brings the woman to her house and declares that she will divorce her husband and get the woman who is going to have his child and her husband married. They get married and then suhana leaves to go to look for nihaal. He marries megha who everyone wanted him to marry in the mandir after thinking suhana is out of his reach. Suhana sees the marriage and slips and falls into the river. She is presumed dead when the family find her locket etc in the river.
6 years pass and now nihaal is the father of 1 lil boy and his relationship with his wife is not a good one. Megha believes her career as a doctor is important and puts her son in the hostel. He grows up to believe his mother dosen't love him only his father does. Suhana meanwhile is in a different town teaching children. A doctor and the father of a lil disabled girl, dev is in love with suhana but he is afraid to admit it to her. She lives with a couple who she calls aunty and uncle. Suhan, Nihaal's son comes to her school for a tournament. He is very mischievous and causes probs for the lil girl. Suhana is fixed up to marry Dev and then Nihaal comes and thinks that Suhana is gappily wed and a mother of the lil girl as she calls her mummy. When the truth is revealed to nihaal, he decides to make suhana admit that she loves him and to marry him. Ultimately she marries dev. Her uncle-in-law from the chopra family knew during those 6 years that she was alive and he tells her to think of herown happiness and not anyone else's. Nihaal leaves nad goes back to his home after his wife comes and discovers that nihaal is in love with someone. She dosen't find out anything until she goes back and realises that suhana is alive. When Nihaal comes back after suhana wedding to dev, she asks him whether he is back because suhana is married now and is unavailable or because he wants to be with megha. They ultimately get divorced and she takes the lil boy, suhan with her. Nihaal becomes a drunk. Suhana's double comes and suhana is believed to be dead in a fire and the other woman is believed to be lolita, suhana's double. Dev doesn't believe her and when she screams that she is suhana. No-one believes her except for Nihaal who comes out of his drunken state to help suhana ger her life back. A gunfight ensues in the garden of dev's house and the diuary isd dicovered which shows that the woman is suhana and not lolita. Dev believed that the woman knew everything about theoir life because she had read suhana diary which had gone missing. The lil girl had kept it with her. The lil girl informed everyone that hse had the diary all along and that woman is her mum. The baddie (mansen from saarthi) is shot during this battle and he tells the truth to dev. Nihaal leaves and suhana and dev are togehter now. Suhana has nightmares concerning the ordeal and wakes up screaming that she is suhana.
Suahna informs dev that she wants to go far away from here from the memories and be with family. Rishika (dev's sis) gets a proposal and they go to that place to see if they both like each other or not. She is already married to samar which suhana finds out. Rishika has now married rohit after samar has signed divorce papers. She is back in love with samar. Samar is a baddie who only pretended ti love her to get her father help his father who was in jail. She heard this on her wedding night and fled.
