Arjun is one confusing character 😆 I really wonder what was it that he wanted out of life. I guess Maya has been the center of every discussion that happened here but for once it would be nice to decode Arjun as well. I guess Maya's enigmatic persona overshadowed everyone else and maybe that left little scope to decipher other characters.
Arjun was an easy going happy lad. Well typically someone in his position would have stood before his family and friends fighting for them. But it was the other way round. He had never really done anything that deserved the extra attention lavished upon him by his step mom, younger brother, best friend or wife. Infact they stood as a shield for Arjun. He never shouldered any real responsibility in his life which is strange. Being the oldest son and man of the house, what did Arjun ever do for his family? As for Maya, I still wonder what did Maya see in him 😕 Agreed he stepped in while she was being harassed by Ashwin but wouldn't any decent guy do that? Was there anything extraordinary in what he did? Did he risk his life to protect Maya? Err NO. Infact Maya risked her life to rescue this guy. Despite not knowing how to swim she set out all alone when the tides were high to rescue him when he got stranded on an island. He never pursued Maya but it was the other way round. I wouldn't say he married Maya for her money as that wouldn't be true but like any other average guy he was floored when a beautiful, successful and enigmatic woman like Maya fell in love with him. He had everyone at his beck n call which led him to believe he was special when fact remained that he was just another ordinary guy who had it easy in life. He never struggled to get a job though the responsibility of running his family came down to him. Infact Saanjh would look out for him all the time and she seemed more concerned about his job than him 😆 Losing a job meant little to him. After his father died, he should have been a father figure to his younger brother who hero worshipped him for no good reason. His step mother loved him more than her own son.
In my post yesterday, I had mentioned how Arjun had been less of a ma da ladla, Ayaan ka bhai or Dusky's Duffer when compared to Maya's Arjun. The reason I felt so was bcoz Arjun could never sort out his priorities. When he had to give his family or bestie preference he chose to stay with his wife and vice versa. He kept on swaying like a pendulum but he could never find his ground. As for leaving Maya, he had tons and tons of valid reasons:
1. Isolating him from his own family
2. Torturing his mother
3. Keeping him a prisoner in her home
4. Letting the world believe he subjected her to domestic violence while she inflicted the wounds on her by self
5. When he realised in the course of 3 years their love had died
6. Implicating his brother falsely
7. Maya and Samay's truth (the real one which was Samay's truth that only Saanjh knows now)
(This list would go on but here we are talking about situations that came to light and not the ones that remain hidden like Ashwin's murder and Jhanvi's accident though they are valid.) But instead he left her bcoz his love had died the moment he got to know about Samay. Really Arjun? You only know Maya's version of the truth where Maya had a relationship with Samay in the past and Maya assuming he had changed for good and found love in Saanjh felt there was nothing to worry about him coming back. You would leave your wife just bcoz you got to know she had a past? How hypocritical can this get?
About Saanjh coming in between them deliberately I strongly disagree. Circumstances brought Saanjh between them. It may have taken time for Saanjh to accept that Arjun loved another woman but she did eventually. I donno why this girl is being held responsible for tearing Arjun and Maya apart. She is certainly dumb and over reactive but by no means is she a bad friend. She never wanted Arjun after he moved on but it was Arjun who held her back when she decided to move out of his life for good. She tried to befriend Maya and she even blamed Vandana for not treating Maya well post the wedding. Ever since her childhood she had harbored feelings for Arjun and the fact that her own family (barring Prem) and Vandana had unofficially proclaimed her to be Arjun's bride encouraged her to nourish those feelings even without confirming if Arjun also felt the same way. The only mistake on her part (besides acting dumb and impulsive) was to not give space to Arjun and Maya and not realise that after marriage the wife may not really like that. Had she done that deliberately to separate Arjun and Maya? NO. She just assumed that her friendship with Arjun will not change, no matter what. They were kids who had grown up together. It was obvious they wouldn't feel awkward to share a hug, a laugh or even a platonic kiss. She just remained the way she was before Arjun got married. I still remember the scene when her dupatta caught fire and Arjun fussed over her instead of checking with Maya as well if she was all right too since she had burnt her hands to save Saanjh. Who was responsible for Maya's insecurity? Was it not Arjun himself?
As for bandar, yes if its alive it will surely be an obstacle between Arjun and Saanjh, just the way Arjun might have been between his father and Vandana. But only time will tell. Coz babies can be moulded easily unlike grown up children. In Arjun's case he was mature enough to realise his mother's place was taken. But if bandar is taken in by Arjun and Saanjh when he/she was a baby and never got to know about Maya how will it even matter? Its another matter if Maya manipulates matters but if the kid were to grow up with Arjun and Saanjh and never know Maya's version of Maya but got to know the truth and if bandar was mature and old enough when he/she got to know this, its possible he/she will not feel bitter about Saanjh. I guess if Arjun and Saanjh secure bandar's future and get rid of Maya before its too late, there is still a tiny probability that bandar will grow up to be a good human being, Bcoz despite all her flaws Saanjh will be a good mother and love bandar like it were her own child. But it all boils down to one critical factor - Circumstances.
