I feel like no matter how hard she tries, maya will always be the evil witch for vandana and suman. They will never accept her. The sad part is, maya isnt entirely bad. And when Maya actually started telling the truth Arjun did just that ie ran away.

I definitely second your first hypothesis. I think Maya's words will make him realize that he was a bit too harsh with Vandana and if he doesn't get out of that grudge he's been holding against her fast, he will possibly lose in the meantime the two most important persons in his life, Ayaan and Saanjh. So for their sake, he gotta apologize to Vandana but I don't think in an overnight he'll provide her his mother's place. Even me I was a bit annoyed by how unconsiderate the boy was. I mean, I get it that her words suddenly made you realize that you did wrong but he shouldn't have cut her off like that when it took her a lot of time and courage to finally decide to confide him something something she doesn't even want to remember and refer to 🥱 It was unchivalrous but I will cut him some slack as he is unaware of everything and at the moment, he was mostly occupied by the heated argument he just had with everyone 😆

If arjun ran to apologize vandana hearing maya story or watever then i must say watever arjun family expecting from sanjh each and everything maya doing for them ..
