I loved today's episode! It was so deliciously coated with symbolism and what's more fun than watching three women take turns to take a dig at each other? 🤣 I enjoyed so much watching them roast and then deep fry each other with their come backs and fighting for the ONE UP position.
Starting with the most crucial bit of the episode, the start. Maya was just about to step in the Sharma house hold with her left leg. We all know how as per Hindu rituals, a newly wedded couple, more specifically the bride is required to step into the house with her right leg (Grah pravesh ceremony). Because stepping in with right leg indicates good will, prosperity and peace and stepping in left indicates the exact opposite. All the other important rituals in an Hindu wedding is performed with right hand as far as I know. Since, we use left hand for cleansing and cleaning purposes, it's considered impure or disrespectful.
Even if we look beyond the Hindu rituals into practices of other religions or even cultural practices, every good beginning is made with right hand. When you extend your hand for a handshake, you extend your right hand. When you eat, you eat with your right hand (unless you're a left handed person), when you give charity, you do so with your right hand. Not that right hands aren't used for any bad/harmful/destructive purposes but that's besides the point. Basically, the right hand is considered superior to the left spiritually, religiously and culturally.
I'm sure Maya must have thought of the 'prospective daughter-in-law' bit too and thus changed her mind to step in with right leg because to her, Sharma household is her rightful home now. But then what happens right after? Milk boils and spilled over, Ayan loses his balances and falls and TV switches on by itself that shows footage of people screaming/shouting, all basically indicating hardships and chaos. Goodness, wasn't that some solid symbolism! 😳 I was keen to know what happens once Maya steps in with her right foot and as soon she does, everything starts tumbling over. It's debatable as to whether or not Maya would eventually bring peace and prosperity to Arjun and his home but the fact that these events played out right after and quite explicitly is enough to indicate that even if Maya stepped into the house with her right foot, she still bought chaos meaning she's the wrong person for the house. Doesn't matter if you step in with your right foot or left, a wrong person or a person destined to bring chaos in your life will fulfil his/her role.
Next up, Vandana and Saanjh trying their best to let Maya know in coded language (which apparently Arjun is too dumb to grasp 😆) that her place is not in Arjun's life and not in that home. Maya, on the other hand, replies efficiently that no matter how hard they try, she is going to snatch away that place in Arjun's life by hook or crook. More than anything else, this game of check and mate between these three women will be enthralling to watch. Saanjh and Vandana, you're going to have to up your game because you're playing against an extremely skilled player. Even if Maya is going to lose, she's not going to lose easy. Unsurprising how Maya got Arjun come running back to her within minutes of leaving that house. 😆 Arjun, beta tu saari life assumptions par hi guzarna. Jab puri tarah se waat lag jayegi tab you can back running to your support systems.
Some dialogues that just speak and convey VOLUMES.
- 'Kehte hain jiss ghar mein naam aur shohrat aane wali ho, uss ghar mein dudh ubal kar gir jaata hai'.
Note : She said the terms name and fame, not prosperity and peace. Boiling milk is considered both a good and a bad sign.
- 'Arjun Saanjh ke bagair bilkul adhura hai'.
- 'Log adhure nahi hote, mahaul unhe adhura bana deta hain. Aur jab mahaul badal jata hai tab log bhi adhure nahi rehte. Mere life mein sirf meri maa hai, isiliye hamesha kuch adhura sa paaya hai apne aap ko, isiliye yahan aap sabke saath aise baith kar apne aapko pura mehsoos kar rahi hoon'.
Note : If she would have used the term mohabbat or pyaar instead, it would have mattered. But she said, 'mahaul' as in environment meaning Arjun is essentially a change of environment to her which she now loves to be in.
- 'Ma'am, aap handle nahi kar payenge. Kyunki woh kya hai ki na Arjun ko wadapao bahut theekha pasand hai'.
- 'Mirchi sambhalne aana chahiye warna jala deti hai'.
- 'Aap apne bete ko ek aur din rakh li jeeye. Tumhe do din ke liye apni family ko diya hain, uske baad toh tum mere hi ho'.
