" Ishq mein haan ek kism ki hoti hai. Tum kisi ko chaahte ho, woh tumhe chaahta hai, aur tum saath ho. Magar Ishq mein naa teen kism ki hoti hai. Ek woh jinse aap pyaar nahin karte.... doosri woh jinse aap pyaar nahin kar sakte...aur teesri woh jinse aap ko pyaar ho sakta hai magar aap karna nahin chaahte... aur sabse khatarnaak ye teesri kism hoti hai. "
Rudra was always in Maaya's plan. But falling for him, softening for him, having emotions for him was never in her plan. So, how did the Rudra chapter go helter skleter in Maaya's plan? Because Rudra matches her painful , traumatic wavelength having seen pain but in a different shade. Because Rudra gets to the innocent, sensitive and emotional girl in Maya who tries peeking out of her Kill Bill guise. Because Rudra is an unconscious hope to Maaya's spirit that maybe, just maybe she has a second chance at love and life.
No, Maaya is not in love with Rudra yet. But she is on a dangerous brink of falling in love with him. Inside, she knows Rudra is the promise of light to her darkness , but she cannot AFFORD light. She cannot AFFORD to weave a possible fairytale with Rudra because she has given up her life to revenge, death, darkness, poetic justice , finality.
This is what she voices to Lord Krishna today , that the path she is on, she cannot afford light (Rudra) , she cannot dare to hope for a future with Rudra or open her heart to love , because that Maaya, and that path is long gone. A fairytale with Rudra is not in her plan, and not in her destiny. I remember her dialogue from the first episode - "Sab kucch jal jaane ke baad hi mujhe sukoon milega." ...Her idea of peace is in burning everything to ashes and she would rather die a warrior than dare to weave any dreams around a possibility of love with Rudra.
So, what does she do? Well, Maaya puts her Kill Bill costume back on her heart , talks to Rudra's picture and tells him that she cannot and will not love him ; that he is next in line after Rishi and takes off from her balcony to reach the door with the now-famous Maaya -swag. But.... as Maaya comes down the stairs and reaches the door to see Rudra in flesh and blood , the smugness, the sly smile, the darkness- WHERE DOES IT DISAPPEAR? Why does emotional tension and vulnerability take over her face when she has no need to pretend as Rudra is still behind the closed door? Why does her face crumble even when Rudra is not looking and she doesn't need to act or pretend? ....Because in the hearts of her heart, she knows that if there is one developing weakness/chink/vulnerability in her plan - it's Rudra. Rudra is like destiny's dark humoured twist in the tale for Maaya - Hey! Revenge ? Awesome! Wait, how about falling in love with the son of your arch enemy and going all haywire in the head and the heart?
It is weird , really. Imagine, to know that you have a promise of light, and to burn that promise with your own hands , and watch the promise and yourself go up in flames.
What a sight!
A note to writers: The characters have a lot of depth and layering. Kindly, work on the thriller part better because Maaya's plan is going over the audience's head. Whenever your protagonist is on a revenge spree, the reader/viewer has to connect to his/her story and KNOW the master plan, if not the details. Audience ka haath pakad kar chalna padta hai and the detailing has to be intricate. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to connect, justify and gulp the protagonist and their actions. Kahaani ka sarr pairr thoda clear karo , please because to be frank, the way story is going, I am only watching it for Rudra-Maya dynamic , their layered characters and MJ. Please work harder and CLEARER on the story because thriller writing is way different from the soap factory that runs on ITV.
