"I wanted to became an chemistry professor", says Gauri Nigudkar, lead in STAR One's 'Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan'.
Gauri Nigudkar, a newcomer who looks a little like Karisma Kapoor, plays Krishna – one of the lead roles - in the Star One serial Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan. But behind this pretty face, is a very intelligent polite and low profile girl. The actress told us that she had always planned to become a chemistry professor but destiny had completely different plans for her.
"My mother is a chemistry professor. I graduated in the same stream and I really love the subject. I think I would have definitely become a chemistry professor", she says. However, Gauri has found another way to fulfill her teaching ambition. "I tutor my sister so that way I satisfy my urge. Even my co-actors were amazed when they saw me checking up chemistry formulae and now they are used to it."
She says that although she got the role of Krishna quite by chance, she enjoys acting immensely. "I don't plan anything in life, like acting wasn't. I enjoy playing the backbone of the family. I like that aspect of Krishna. I have a romantic track with Parth (Gautam Rhode)."
"I go with the flow. I am not specific about TV or films. It's important that I enjoy what I do," she adds.
Speaking about her future, Gauri says she would rather take things slow and steady. "I can't work like my co-stars - they run from one set to another, work in shifts, manage dates etc… I can't slog. I do only one thing at a time. Right now, I have all the time for Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan. Nothing else."
Being a hard-core Maharashtrian, Nigudkar says she is a bit a partial to the Marathi TV industry? "Well, I still think that they are rich in content as compared to an average Hindi soap on the small screen. I have done a small role in the Marathi film called Uttrayan where I'm playing Neena Kulkarni at a younger age."
