It was a painful episode to watch. It showed the generation gap and would say I could really connect to it being a child of 80s and faced with conflicting choices when you reached the marriageable age. One of the reasons DDLJ was a huge success of our generation as it celebrated her choice. It was not just about her choice, it was also about the fact that she could chose correctly. Raj Malhotra was that hero who was not fighting goons, but who walks the extra mile to make her family his own just like she makes his family. Yes most of the girls of my generation wanted that choice. If we could chose our dress, the course we want to study we also wanted a say in the man whom we are going to marry. We expected them to be attached to our families too, just like we were willing to treat their families. Our generation was not blind breaking the rules generation. We wanted to change the rules and I would say a lot of us struggled for that. To have our dreams and our families too. To get those approvals.
When Aditya asked Wasim what was Zoya's mistake whether it was falling in love, I remembered my friend who cried in my arms the whole night telling she doesnt want the guy to know she loves him because the family will be sad as he belongs to another caste. A generation whose inner struggle the parents didnt see. Then quite a lot of us who decided to part way with their soulmates because families wont approve as simple as that. But even those decisions were mature.
Similarly today for Zoya, Aditya, Arshad the choice is clear. They understand if Zoya had not told it at that time three lives would have been ruined in future. But not for Arshad's parents and Wasim. Amina curses Zoya. That she can never be happy taking Arshad's dreams. Yes that curse will play out as one of Adiya's challenge and it will be beneficial to them in the end. Wasim his ego is hurt royally. He knows Aditya is not Yash. Adi had told if Zoya comes to him nothing can seperate them. Still he leaves Zoya's hand for Wasim because he understood Zoya. Poor Zoya she tells she wont marry anyone. She will stay single. Aditya begs in front of Wasim, to give him a chance to keep Zoya happy. But for Wasim, Aditya's victory is his loss.
He had planned and plotted and he failed. In front of heart, the head failed. As if adding insult to injury with Adi's behaviour he cant even shout at the young man properly. He loved Zoya with all the heart and he wanted to take her with her family's blessing only. But for the first time he saw what Zoya has lost by loving him. Why she had struggled to express her love for him. She had once run away and lost her father's love. She didnt want to do it again. Lose her family again. But then that is what is happening to her. But unlike yash, Aditya wont keep Zoya away from her family. He will make efforts to mend relation, even if he has to bend in front of Wasim.
Now coming to the most beautiful part of the episode. Roshnaq. She spoke finally. She spoke openly to her husband that their daughter has made the right choice for the first time. Yes Aditya is Roshnaq choice. He was, is and will be Roshnaq choice for Zoya because as she said Zoya lives with him. She trusts Aditya. She is impressed by the boy who was crossing the limits. But with her one slap he did the impossible of leaving Zoya at her nikaah. Roshnaq have completely experienced the goodness in Aditya just like a mother would see in her son. And Adi had given her that right as a mother the same way he had given Sakshi.
She knows her daughter is safe with Aditya and she blesses the couple wholeheartedly. Adiya needed that blessing. Because Roshnaq is that force that will help them sail through many turmoils. As a mother she will always be there as their guiding light. Never forceful but at the same time acting at the right time to bring her children on the track. And for her now there is no difference of Zoya and Aditya. It is same for her because as a mother she knows now their happiness is not by keeping one happy, but it is by keeping them happy. Zoya needed that assurance. She very much needed her mother to stand by her decision.
Wasim has lost royally. As Roshnaq said he went for her alliance with Arshad after knowing what Zoya feels about Aditya. So it had to come to this. Zoya didnt disgrace him. He brought the disgrace upon himself. He manipulated her that he had been always there for her. Yes when her decision matched with his. If not Zoya was on streets. I dont have to tell the instances where Wasim would have got her dead body for being the caring father he is. Aditya stood by her when his decision didnt match her and when she came to him, he held her hand firmly.
So for Adiya history is repeating. Once again Zoya is on the road with the man she loves and once again Aditya is going to marry his best friend. The challenges galore in their path, with each step people trying to come between them and seperate them. Their past playing the havoc and most importantly their family Wasim and Anjana in their need to prove themselves right will go any extend to prove their children wrong even that means taking away their happiness.
