Zoya says aap even to Noor.. Never heard her use tum...my Hindi sucks too but I think some ppl/cultures always use aap.. Some of the ppl I know even address their kids with aap... So I don't think Zoya means to use aap in the patriarchal sense... But it's just her way of using it on all ppl

Zoya has been addressing to everyone as aap and not just Aditya, even to people younger to her like Noor. In olden days, people belonging to royal families or rich aristocratic families would address themselves as hum and others as aap. They would find it like their prestige. They would feel proud to call themselves hum and others aap. Even today, some aristocratic families use these words.
Zoya also belongs to a rich family of Mussoorie. In the initial episodes, Waseem and Anjana used to address their daughters as aap and themselves as hum. After they came to Mumbai, they have suddenly started using "tum' and 'main' words. Noor sometimes addresses Arjun and Aditya as tum, sometimes aap. That's the inconsistency in their characters. In this matter, Zoya has been pretty consistent. I hope u got the answer to the question.

As far as I know in Urdu we have to address Everyone as Aap no Matter elder or younger
And since Zoya is a Muslim girl her vocabulary is like this only

Thanks for clarifying! I never realized the hum-aap situation. In another show, Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, I saw the richer kid telling the poorer kid to address her as "aap" not "tum" (even though they're just little kids), so I thought the aap-tum was used only in terms of respect, glad I asked here, because I was like why is Zoya always so formal😆
