BROKEN PROMISES - CHAPTER 1 : A HAPPY BEGINNING?

"Zain Osman Abdullah, tum apne aap ko samajhte kya ho? Jab jo mann mei aaya keh diya. Yeh nhi dekhte ki isse dusro ko kya dukh hota hai. Roz ka drama ban gya hai yeh tumhara. Aate ho kuch kehte ho aur phir chale jaate ho. Bas itna hi aata hai na tumhe? Logo ka dil todna? Huh? Bet? Tumne Di ke saath bet lgayi thi ki agar mei tumse pat gyi matlab you are super smart, super cool. Speak up, Abdullah! Jab bet lagani thi tab toh aaram se haan bol diya. Ab kesa guilt Zain?" Aaliya spoke up. She was hurt upon hearing from one of her 'resources' that Zain had put up a bet with Aisha, Aaliya's sister, that if he could impress Aaliya he wins the bet and is really cool.

"Aaliya mera woh matlab-" Zain was cut off.

"Tumhe pta hai Zain, iss pure college mei log mera mazak udate hai. Jaanti hu, last semester hai. Khush hu mei ki meine apni puri college life kisi ke peeche waste nhi ki. Par Zain tum? Kya krna chahte the tum uss din? Pehle khud hi date ke liye leke jaate ho phir khud hi dokha dete ho? Kya kiya tha meine Zain? Kyun mei tumhare aur Di ke iss stupid bet mei phass gyi. Already meri image bahaut acchi nhi thi. But thanks to you Zain, ab woh aut kharab ho gyi hai." Aaliya replied as she walked away. Zain had for the first time a pain in his heart, and that was for the first time he had realized... IT WASN'T JUST BECAUSE OF THE BET!

Haider Residence, Mumbai.

"Arre Aaliya? Kya hua tumhe? Itni sad kyu ho?" Aisha Haider, Aaliya's elder sister asked her.

"Kyu kiya aapne esa Di? Kya mila aapko yeh stupid si bet lga ke? Taras aa rha tha mujhpe? Ki bechari Aaliya, chalo usse ek boyefriend de dete hai. Chalo ek bet lgate hai. Jo Aaliya ko pasand aayega usse inam. Kya problem hai aapki mjhse di? Bolo?" Aaliya said crying.

."Aaliya tum overeact kr rhi ho. Meine bas ek chhoti si bet lgayi thi. Kya tumhe sacch mei lgta hai ki Zain itni der tak tumhare saath rhta agar woh sirf yeh sab bet ke liye kr rha hota? Nahi. Kyunki woh tumhare saath natak nhi kr rha tha Aalu. Woh sach mei tumse pyaar krta hai!" Aisha replied.

"Esa nhi ho skta Di. Woh Zain Abdullah hai. Hazar se bhi zyaada ladkiyan narti hai uspe. Aur woh Tees Mar Khaan mjhse pyaar krega? Pls Di. Mujhe jhooti tasali dena band kro!" Aaliya said.

"Tasali? Ek second Aaliya, kahi tu usse pyaar? I mean uhh-" Aaliya walked away to her room. She didn't care to reply to that question. Her silence gave all the answers.

Next Day
College

"Aaliya!" Zain called from behind.

"Sorry Abdullah. Mere paas time nhi hai tumhare liye. Faltu logo ko mei bhao nhi deti. Khaskar woh jo mujhe dokha dete hai. Kamaskam yeh toh kr hi skti hu mei." Aaliya said ignoring him. He followed her.

"Aaliya woh bet-"

"Woh bet kya?"

"Aaliya meine Aisha se bet zaroor lgayi thi. Aur issi liye lagayi thi. Magar Aaliya, dheere dheere mujhe sachh mei... Par meine socha ki do theen din ki baat hai. Dheere dheere sambhal jaunga. Nahi sambhala. Aur mujhe tumse- Mujhe tumse-"

"Tumhe mujhse?"

"MEI TUMSE PYAAR KRTA HU"...
