To be honest, I had not even heard of the show before people in the forum said its going the humsafar way when suri told zubair to seperate ZaYa.

Havnt seen humsafar... Only paki serial i saw was zindagi gulzar hai. That to i only saw cos my mum is a big paki serial fan and being in dubai it was much easier to watch

I don't think one can compare the two at all. Humsafar is a class apart, it is a show that is high quality writing, acting and cinematography it is absolutely true the story is king in humsafar. Humsafar was able to carve a niche internationally becos it was a weekly show

BI end of the day is a Hindi daily episodic track oriented show, cannot rely on story, all the unfortunate trappings of hindi tv overglamourization is in BI, but even in this caged Hindi TV atmosphere, must say BI has held well and for that kudos!
