"Say sorry" he said.
Aliya couldn't believe her ears. Was he really asking her to apologize? He did not even hear her side of things. The nerve of that man!
"Bhaiyu, rehne dijiye na.. it is ok. I mean she did not say something that unforgivable. She just suggested that I was responsible for the divide."
Zain cocked his head to a side while he listened to his so called sister. Aliya's eyes narrowed. She very well knew how to identify people who added fuel to what was already a raging fire."
"Lekin tum zimmedar nai ho. Galti Aliya ki hai. Maafi maango" he said.
She looked at him disappointingly and then scoffed "nahi".
He hated himself for what he did next. He grabbed her wrist as she made a move to go.
"Apologize" he demanded. "Meri behen se maafi maango." He said, his eyes burning.
She looked at him disbelievingly.
"Zain, leave me."
"Say sorry"
"Bhaiyu, chod do. It is ok, really."
"Zain, you are hurting me." She said in a small voice.
Zain, kya kar raha hai. Chod usse. Said a voice at the back of his head. Usse dard ho raha hai. Atleast uski baat sun le. Voh aise hi kyun bolegi..kuch toh hua hoga. But he still did not unhand her.
"Say sorry." He repeated, hate for himself growing immensely.
"I will not apologize, zain, cause I have not done anything wrong. Yeah, i suggested that she could be responsible, not because mamu has entitled her to 51% property. I am saying that beacuse i saw her talking to nafeesa bhabi about the same. Chodo mujhe zain, dard ho raha hai."
She tried to free her hand but he did not let go.
"Kya ye sach hai bakbak?"
"Lekin bhabhi, mein toh sirf apna hissa unhe dene ki baat kar rai thi."
"Accha? Cause it did not seem li-"
"Aliya, say sorry"
She looked at him, her eyes betraying the inner turmoil. Eyes brimming, she whispered
"Leave me."
"No. Apologise."
Without looking at Barkhat but looking directly at Zain, she said "Sorry.", her voice small.
He left her wrist.
She looked at him and said "Disgusting".
And she walked away, tears falling from her eyes.
And he watched her retreating back, pain clearly evident in his eyes.
