Ok, how do I put this? I totally understand where you are coming from. This is not even a question of disagreement, but my perspective's different.
I think, like mentioned earlier, it's better to receive a slap from your own sibling (family) than having the ugly truth out from a third party. If Aaliya would not have done this, outsiders could have made it worse. This was not just the question of owning the truth to her parents, it was a serious offence. She is only a kid, after all.
Let me give you a personal example. My folks do not hesitate to scold me or pinpoint my errors in front of their friends. Normally, I do not mind that but it gets on my last nerves when that third party is someone I do not like. I always end up questioning em about. In return, they reply something along the lines of, if you cannot handle your family's criticism in front of others, how will you deal with the world?
Yes, Aayat does owe an explanation to her parents --- but what could they have done? Even today they were crying buckets like weak, old folks. Since it was about her little sister and her reputation, I think, what Aaliya did was right - as an elder sister. Surraiya could have made the situation more worse --- better to hear ugliness from you own than others.
I think, the problem here is, we do not know the extend of Aaliya/Aayat relationship. We have never seen Aaliya parenting Aayat, so we cannot use any past examples for comparison.
Normally it is the other way round. Highlighting in red. But I have highlighted black.😆
I agree on the perspective point. I am from a family who are quite tight lipped about any issues within the family. They don't like others talking about us in regard with any scandal. BUT I have seen my friends and other families, who do make public display of their displeasure about their family.
What they showed was not wrong. In fact we must all have seen gazzilion indian shows which has scenes worser than what happened yesterday. I think its the consistency of the show that has to be maintained. They have to maintain some character sketch. Otherwise, if one mistake is tolerated by audience, they tend to take it for granted and repeat it. Like you said, we don't know about Aayat/Aliya relationship. So, if they had shown something about that, we would have been able to accept this easily I guess. This has been told here many times. In their rush to move on with the track, they have failed to explain a lot of things to us. I am happy the show is moving at an excellent pace. But they need to have a good pace as well as a good execution. May be, IF they had not shown a different precap on friday, people would have accepted yesterday's scenes easily? For me, that's really what upset me. Why show that and give us an expectation?
When I think about it, we do not really know the extent of relationship between 2 people other than Zain-Aliya, Aliya-Osman, Zain-Osman, and of course Shaziya-Nafeesa. All the rest are quite vague. But I think with each track opening up, they will be explored in its own time. For now, whats done is done. Tonight's episode looks lot more promising.
PS: Even though I was not as acceptable on yesterday's episode like you did, I enjoyed reading your POV and I really do respect it.
