It happened with yesterday's promo which brought us to the edge of the cliff.
Zain drinking - WHAT? And all sense/logic went spiraling down. This couldn't happen !

Is this Beintehaa I am watching? A month of back to back amazing episodes and then THIS!

It was time to step back and look at Zain once again. Surely there's something I didn't consider, hence the wrong perception I had of him. Because the Zain in the promo doesn't fit the Zain I imagined.

A closer look and I realized certain aspects which have been shed light on, yet I overlooked.

Marriage not his cup of tea - He does not question the institution of marriage, yet he dislikes it for himself and discourages his friends too. Remember his entry, stopping Rizwan from getting married to a christian lady. Where does it stem from?

From Osman and Suraiyah's relation? from his elder brother Fahad and his two wives?
Zain is a person who doesn't interfere in other's lives, doesn't question the actions of his families, doesn't impose his opinion on others. He didn't when he realized a dowry was on the play in Aliya's marriage, For his peace a small question to his phuppi. Why? And the response he got. Happens, in yours it will too. But that's the point. He will never marry according to him. So to each his own and Zain leaves it at that.

We don't know what he thinks of the dynamics of his own family. He has never given an opinion on any of his family dynamics, he is carefree. And all he cares is about how he lives his life and that he gets to live it that way.

Not so Emotional- He had gone to Bhopal for his father's happiness, but what was the incentive - 5 lakhs n trip to Bangkok. He loves his phuppi, enjoyed in Bhopal but he was willing to leave Bhopal just a day before marriage, as tickets get handed over to him. Couldn't he stay for a day more until the wedding? For the happiness of the people he had been with the past days. He was let off and he was ready to fly away. When in Bhopal Never did he mention that he didn't want to attend the wedding , didn't want to come to Bhopal. He is a chilled out person, so he went with the flow, as long as he had his way. Rational thinking.

Not so Religious - He hasn't been brought up the way a Muslim kid would, he doesn't pray, doesn't know how to. Now the very basic is unchecked, forget the details. What does he do in Bangkok? Pray Namaz ? No he parties, and what do people do in parties ? Dance. Drink. Date. Remember, Huggy, Kissy, xyz?

Decision-Maker - He decides, he doesn't rely on others. He has his opinions and he sticks to them and makes it known in his actions. Unlike Fahad who has an opinion, but he keeps it to himself and let's events play out on their own. Maybe that's the reason Osman loves Zain more than Fahad.

Irresponsible & Immature but Rational- Zain is not a responsible person. He never bothered to study well when his parents had spent so much on him, sending him abroad. He got an A+ report card, and to everyone's surprise, his father had an A++ report card. So if he is irresponsible it is equally because his father gave him that Freedom and overlooked this aspect of him.
Immature because he is not able to handle the situation he is in. He is going crazy, and the Waleemah seems to be the last blow. He has no one. He ends up drinking.

But Rational he is, knowing what situation he was in, knowing he had to marry Aliya, that he couldn't run away, couldn't walk out on his father.
And now when he faces the repercussions, his immaturity shows.

And it's only right, given the way he has been brought up. It is justified.

I think Zain's goodness overpowered, which made these traits take a backseat.

Well said yaara! A meaningful post admist of seemingly meaningless episodes!
After your read, i feel the current scenes are necessary for the story to progress..Though its a boredom to see such scenes after the high expectation set, i am hopeful at the end slowly but steadily, zain will weave his life along with Aliya..

Thanks ya ! They are important to the plot, the misunderstandings are avoiding any sane conversation between them, which at the end of the day paves way for the two not understanding each other. The show has just started, can't be together so soon, it's after all an indian daily drama, 300+ episodes.

Having experience with a lot of disappointing shows, the present Promo had very little effect on me actually. A closer look from your side about Zain that you have made all seems to be true.👏 Let's hope that what we have analyzed is what the creators also create. Sometimes it happens we end up defending a character more they even thought of writing. But if they are reading all this, they should get points that as a viewer, we are well committed to their show and they give us our worth.

Coming to my views on Zain.
He is a typical laadla of the house. You can see no one at his home tries to control him. Not even Suraiya directly. She couldn't stop him from going to Bhopal, because she has only so much control and power over him. He is now an adult and he makes his decisions. He is not used to a lot of obeying strict rules at his home.

Also as mentioned in the show repeatedly, Zain and Aliya are very similar. Just like how Aliya decided to sacrifice everything for her father and his good name, Zain did the same to not bring a bad image for his father. Their only difference is that, as a girl, Aliya is able to try to adjust as much as possible. Zain is not able to cope up. She is trying to make the best of the situation, for better or worse he is her husband now. But Zain cannot see beyond the fact that she broke her promise and has altered his life forever.

I am surprised they are bringing in drinking into the show, not shocked, but surprised. I am not familiar with muslim culture drinking, cos I am generally told they dont. Correct if I am wrong there. But Zain seems an exception since he grew up in London for 6 yrs and has been a little bit of a playboy. Clubs, parties, vodkas must have been unavoidable. But doing so at home IS the twist to the show. I don't think even Suraiya would have expected it.

And I like your point about his being against marriage. His brother's marriage must have set some example i think.

At the end I think, all Zain wants is control to his own life. He must be the only to decide and alter it and no one else. This is like a death to his dreams. Now he cannot leave aliya home and go to Bangkok partying can he? He cannot date around with any girl he feels attracted. And with every incident on the show, he is loosing more control.

I like all this hype actually. Because if he could hate someone with so much passion, imagine how that passion would be when he is in love with her! If tomorrow he suddenly turned a new leaf and started accepting Aliya, then I think there is no point to the show is there? None of us would be satisfied. I want Zain to fall in love with Aliya for who she is, a person who is just like him.

And there are so many future tracks I can plainly see from the last 26 episodes.
1. Suraiya being a famous head chef making her son's favorite food, while Aliya makes excellent home made food. There is gonna be some competition and jealousy there when Zain will love aliya's food.
2. An obvious triangle where Shaziya's sister might try to "seduce" Zain. I want Aliya to be a possessive wife. Jo mera nahi, woh kisi ka bhi nahi. I want this track to happen before they fall in love.
And I have forgotten the rest which came to my mind while watching the show. 😆😆😆

I think that's enough from my side. I don't wanna go on and on and on...

Thanks!
