It happened with yesterday's promo which brought us to the edge of the cliff. Zain drinking - WHAT? And all sense/logic went spiraling down. This couldn't happen !Is this Beintehaa I am watching? A month of back to back amazing episodes and then THIS!
It was time to step back and look at Zain once again. Surely there's something I didn't consider, hence the wrong perception I had of him. Because the Zain in the promo doesn't fit the Zain I imagined.
A closer look and I realized certain aspects which have been shed light on, yet I overlooked.
Marriage not his cup of tea - He does not question the institution of marriage, yet he dislikes it for himself and discourages his friends too. Remember his entry, stopping Rizwan from getting married to a christian lady. Where does it stem from?
From Osman and Suraiyah's relation? from his elder brother Fahad and his two wives?
Zain is a person who doesn't interfere in other's lives, doesn't question the actions of his families, doesn't impose his opinion on others. He didn't when he realized a dowry was on the play in Aliya's marriage, For his peace a small question to his phuppi. Why? And the response he got. Happens, in yours it will too. But that's the point. He will never marry according to him. So to each his own and Zain leaves it at that.
We don't know what he thinks of the dynamics of his own family. He has never given an opinion on any of his family dynamics, he is carefree. And all he cares is about how he lives his life and that he gets to live it that way.
Not so Emotional- He had gone to Bhopal for his father's happiness, but what was the incentive - 5 lakhs n trip to Bangkok. He loves his phuppi, enjoyed in Bhopal but he was willing to leave Bhopal just a day before marriage, as tickets get handed over to him. Couldn't he stay for a day more until the wedding? For the happiness of the people he had been with the past days. He was let off and he was ready to fly away. When in Bhopal Never did he mention that he didn't want to attend the wedding , didn't want to come to Bhopal. He is a chilled out person, so he went with the flow, as long as he had his way. Rational thinking.
Not so Religious - He hasn't been brought up the way a Muslim kid would, he doesn't pray, doesn't know how to. Now the very basic is unchecked, forget the details. What does he do in Bangkok? Pray Namaz ? No he parties, and what do people do in parties ? Dance. Drink. Date. Remember, Huggy, Kissy, xyz?
Decision-Maker - He decides, he doesn't rely on others. He has his opinions and he sticks to them and makes it known in his actions. Unlike Fahad who has an opinion, but he keeps it to himself and let's events play out on their own. Maybe that's the reason Osman loves Zain more than Fahad.
Irresponsible & Immature but Rational- Zain is not a responsible person. He never bothered to study well when his parents had spent so much on him, sending him abroad. He got an A+ report card, and to everyone's surprise, his father had an A++ report card. So if he is irresponsible it is equally because his father gave him that Freedom and overlooked this aspect of him.
Immature because he is not able to handle the situation he is in. He is going crazy, and the Waleemah seems to be the last blow. He has no one. He ends up drinking.
But Rational he is, knowing what situation he was in, knowing he had to marry Aliya, that he couldn't run away, couldn't walk out on his father.
And now when he faces the repercussions, his immaturity shows.
And it's only right, given the way he has been brought up. It is justified.
I think Zain's goodness overpowered, which made these traits take a backseat.
