I understand he feels betrayed, but really he could have said no to the nikaah himself, but he didn't, as he didn't want to hurt his father, and she couldn't say no to it for the same reason.

I think it was wrong of him to ask her to say no in the first place, they should've said no together in front of their parents, but instead he put it all on her.

But I'm glad his hatred probably isn't because of the slap.

They were going to convince Usman together right? At that point Usman was adamant & Zain knew he wouldn't listen Only person left was Ghulam. The guy for whom everything was actually being done as he said. As he is Aliya's father, she only will convince him na. She agreed to take it all on herself.

And yeah...this was a waaay more sensible reason.

But my point is he didn't say no to his father, not just because he believed his father wouldn't listen but also because he didn't want to hurt him.

The same with Aaliya, she couldn't hurt her father. I think it's pretty reasonable especially considering her father's state of health.
