Hello everyone :) Munz was very kind to give me the opportunity to pen the third and last part of this TS. I was more than happy to take it up. Thanks Munz for this giving me the chance and placing your trust on me with this 🤗
PART 3
'Aliya!' called Shabana once again.
Her eyes flew open as she came out of her trance, her heart thudded loudly as she realized she was still in his embrace. She shrunk back, distancing herself from him. AstaghfirAllah, AstaghfirAllah(I seek the forgiveness of Allah) she repeated over and over in her head. His eyes questioned her, she looked away afraid to look too long and left him there heading downstairs.
She could feel him follow her downstairs, yet she didn't dare to turn. He was her mistake. She had cried to her Lord for days and nights in hope of forgiveness.
She was afraid of him because of the past which she had spent with him, of the mistakes she had made in her life and now when she saw him, she had lost herself again. Why?
She entered the hall room lost in her thoughts.
'Surprise!!' The room rang with familiar cheerful voices; joyful faces greeted her as she stared at her dear and loved ones.
'Aliya beta' Osman's voice rang above the chatter. 'Mamu Mami' Aliya couldn't help but smile as she approached them. 'Assalamualaikum!'
'Walaikumassalam' Suraiyyah responded ushering her into a hug. 'Aliya has turned into such a pretty young lady MashaAllah' Suraiyyah complimented.
'Nafisa di!' Aliya smiled hugging her best friend and sister.
'Aliya I am so glad to see you' said Nafeesa with a funny smile. Aliya eyed her questioningly to which Nafeesa merely responded with a mischievous wink.
'Where's Fahad Bhai?' she asked instead.
'Someone had to stay back home to take care of business' Osman replied.
'Why didn't anyone tell me?' Aliya complained in a childlike manner as she sat between her Mamu and Mami. 'I should have had a hand in welcoming you all. I hate such surprises'
'Well too soon Aliya, don't complain, wait for the real surprise' Suraiyyah smiled joy evident in her voice.
'There's another surprise?' Aliya complained softly looking from one to another.
'Yes this was Shabana's surprise' Osman explained as he glanced at her. 'We have a surprise for you too'
Aliya could feel her face grow warm as she noticed everyone decked up as if in celebration in their prettiest clothes and glittering accessories. The room around her shone bright with lighting's and decor that her parents had been putting up all day long. She noticed Ayat standing next to Nafeesa both of whom were struggling to contain their excitement. She glared at them, annoyed that they didn't tell her anything.
'Aliya beta' Suraiyyah began. 'We had verbally fixed your relation with Zain when you two finished schooling, we only felt it right, now that you two have completed your education that we make things official'
This was the end of her! Aliya couldn't breathe as the following words rang in her ears.
'We called Shabana a week ago and have been planning to surprise you since then' Osman smiled warmth emanating from him. Aliya glanced at everyone from the corner of her eyes, noticing their joyous faces.
'Excuse me I will just-' she mumbled getting up from her place. This was not happening, she thought to herself.
She stopped to find her way blocked by Zain, who stood at the door, his eyes curious.
'I think Aliya and Zain should catch up with each other' suggested Osman, as he glanced from one to another.
'Yes they are meeting after a long time after all' Ghulam agreed.
'We will be at the terrace' stated Zain as he beckoned Aliya to lead the way, his eyes curious as he met her hesitant gaze. She nodded despite herself heading out of the room, with Zain close by. Her fear, her anxiousness started shedding away with each step that she took, the knots in her mind loosened and soon she felt as free as Bhopal's fresh air that brushed across her face as she reached the terrace. She wrapped her white dupatta around her head. Zain stared at her surprised at her action but shrugged it away.
'Just the way it was' He observed looking around. 'It's remarkable how not a sight has changed, it's exactly the way I remember it'
'A lot has changed, you just don't see it yet' Aliya replied.
'What is it that I don't see?' He asked as he stared at her delicate self, leaning by the ledge, her face towards the city.
'Let's start with the people in these houses, those new shops, that beautiful mosque. This terrace, you and me'
'Changes are a part of life' he mused in return.
'And when those changes drift two people apart?'
'Have we drifted apart?' he asked surprised.
'I thought it was over' said Aliya now facing him. 'What is all this about?' She asked.
'Wasn't it always supposed to be like that?' he counter asked.
Aliya stared at him trying to find some reason to him being here, smiling at her. A month after he had come to Bhopal, a month after their parents decided their future. A month of interactions, dreams of a happy life, and then there was not a word spoken.
'Years Aliya' Zain continued when she didn't respond 'Even before we met each other five years back, all I was told was that you would be my wife. I haven't even thought of anyone else'
'I didn't hear from you again' she paused. '5 years, not even a word from you Zain'
'I was guilty' he sighed. 'All that is gone now' he added with a smile standing next to her. 'I am the happiest man on earth today, we are getting engaged!'
'You were guilty?' she asked confused.
'College life changed me' Zain answered with a casual shrug. 'I had to do stuff I didn't really know I wanted to-'
'Like partying? Dating?'
'So you know' he bit his lip smilingly. 'You have been keeping checks on me' he teased.
'Your family is my family too. I heard things'
'Is that the problem?' Zain asked surprised. 'You should know I was never serious, it was only to be a part of the friend circle and not be the odd one out' he explained.
'I don't think this will work Zain' Aliya sighed.
'What?'
'Our wedding' she answered.
'Why?' he asked his face incredulous.
'I didn't deserve this Zain, you simply ignored me to go on with a way of life that best suited you not to mention disrespected me. Fact is, all of that doesn't even matter now, I have moved on. I thought you were one aspect of my life that was never coming back to me. I loved you Zain, I waited for you but that wait ended years ago'
'Aliya, it always comes back to the two of us' Zain emphasized, his face serious. 'I am sorry I made a mistake but am here now, my family is here. Think of what this will do to them, to your family as well'
'Think of what this will do to us, Will we be happy?' she asked.
'What is it that I can do to get my Aliya back?' he asked earnestly as he held her hand. He knew he had hurt her.
Aliya shook her head, pulling her hands out of his grip. 'Nothing. Because I don't know how to get that Aliya back either' she sighed.
'And this Aliya, the one in front of me?' he asked as he stared at the cloth wrapped around her head. 'This Hijab' he muttered.
'My Faith' she answered. 'I was not a religious person' she admitted. 'I found light. I have never been this happy. My heart found peace. I realized how placing my complete trust on you was my mistake when truly there is only One I should place my trust on, My Rab'
'Will you guide me to this light?' he asked.
Aliya stared at him stunned, the annoying, obnoxious guy she had heard about was nowhere to be seen, instead stood the humble curious guy she had met 5 years back.
'This is Zain am speaking to' she asked seeking his assurance.
'I think so' he nodded. 'Don't you think that it was always meant to be this way. I always saw you as my wife Aliya, there has never been anyone else. You have always been mine'
'You mean you have always been mine' she smiled softly teasing him.
'Well to put it that way-' he smiled looking away.
'I am right' her face lit up, as she smiled. Zain shook his head as he met her gaze.
'Let's not keep them waiting' Aliya smiled heading downstairs. Zain followed with a soft smile playing on his lips.
'It will be our new beginning' he smiled at her. 'A blessed one' Aliya nodded in response. She had missed him when he left for University, felt cheated as she heard certain incidents of Zain's life from Nafisa Di, she had begun to believe that the Zain she had met was lost, and it was only a matter of few months, when she had completely let go of him, thinking they were never meant to be. Then she embarked on her faith, and as she advanced in life. That one month of her life had truly come down to being a mistake, for which all she did was seek forgiveness. She didn't know that Allah would solve her matters for her in such a beautiful manner that days from now when she would look at Zain, it would only be with love and respect in her heart.
