" Aap shaant ho jaiye Sakha Babu. Itna gussa accha nahi hota hai." Bondita said as she kept a hand on his right shoulder to calm him down.
" Tum mujhe shaant hone ko bol rahi ho Bondita? Mai shaant ho jaun? Tumne theek se sunaa bhi ki iss aadmi ne kya kaha?" Anirudh in turn screamed at Bondita.
" Haan Sakha babu sunaa maine par aapko itna fark kyu pad raha hai? Aap toh mujhe pehele hi bol chuke hain na ki ab mere jeevan mein kya ho raha hai aur kya nahi ho raha hai usse aapko koi matlab nahi hai." She shouted back, agitated this time and caught Anirudh completely off-guard. He was not prepared for her to throw this question.
He kept quiet and avoided any sort of eye-contact with her because he couldn't tell her what he felt for her. Not here in these circumstances in front of so many people. It had to be special, only for her to listen for the first time. After that, he would love to shout it to the whole world. Yes, he had fallen in love with Bondita. It was just love. He hadn't seen her in eight years until today, until now and yet he loved her. He loved her with everything he had in him. Her one look, one questions and all the walls he had built around him were crumbling like they were nothing.
" Boliye na Barrister Babu? Chup kyun hain? Aapko kya fark padta hai?" Bondita tried to ask him once again but he refused to answer.
" Bondita, iss Barrister Babu ko fark pade yaa na pade usse humein kya? Hum donon khush rehene chahiye." Chandrachur said, taking two steps closer to Bondita and Anirudh glared at him furiously. Bondita, all this while was glaring at Anirudh and immediately looked at Chandrachur.
" Aapka dimaag kya ghaas charne gaya hai Jamai Babu? Aap Tupur ke pati hain aur uss rishte se mere bhai samaan hue. Aur doosri baat, aapka vivah ho chuka hai toh aap doosre vivah ke baare mein soch bhi kaise sakte hain? Kaise aadmi hain aap? Chee." Bondita said, turning towards him with a taste of disgust in her eyes.
" Bas Bondita. Aurat jaat......." Thakumaa came towards where they were standing along with a shocked Sumati and a helpless Tupur.
" Thakumaa aap please apnaa yeh aurat jaat ka raag alaapna band kariye mere saamne. Bahut sun liya ab aur nahi." Bondita shouted, highly irritated with the events unfolding in front of her eyes currently.
" Bondita, jab mujhe koi samasya nahi hai iss vivah se toh tum kyu manaa kar rahi ho?" Tupur asked and Bondita looked as if she wanted to jump off a cliff.
" Tupur tu kya bol rahi hai tujhe hosh bhi hai? Mai Jamai Babu se shaadi karun? Meri mati maari gayi hai kya?" Bondita didn't realize that she had spoken the last line aloud.
" Bondita, yeh vivah to tujhe karna hi padega. Isme vighn daalne ki sochna bhi nahi. Tu 8 saal pehele bhi Jamai babu ko chod kar bhaagi thi toh uski bharpaayi tujhe karni hi hogi." Thakumaa declared and Bondita once again couldn't believe what she was hearing.
" Vighn toh aa chuka hai, aur iss vighn ka naam hai Anirudh Roy Choudhary. Yeh vivah toh mai kisi bhi stithi mein hone nahi dunga." Anirudh has had enough of that nonsense. He knew that Bondita was capable enough to deal with her family but this was his instinct. This was in his system, to stand for and stand by her.
" Tum Tulsipur ke ho Barrister Babu, tum humaare andhruni maamlon mein apni taang na hi adao toh tum sab ke liye behtar hoga." Chandrachur tried to threaten Anirudh but little did he know that he had just triggered him to get to his Rakshak Babu mode for his Bondita.
" Jab jab Bondita ki baat aayegi, tab-tab yeh Anirudh Roy Choudhary bolega. Yeh pata hone ki baawajood ki woh apne liye bol sakti hai, phir bhi bolunga kyuki jo rishta mera hai na iske saath..." But before he could continue, Thakumaa cut him off.
" Kaisa Rishta? Kaunsa rishta aur kahaan ka rishta Anirudh babu? Bolo?" Thakumaa taunted Anirudh and this riled Bondita up. Who was she to question their relationship?
" Bondita aur mera rishta kisi naam ka mohtaaj nahi hai Thakumaa aur na hi kisi ke kuch bhi bol dene se badal jaayega. Are aap mein se koi humaare rishte ko samajh hi nahi sakta." He roared in front of everyone.
" Aree jaiye jaiye, khoob samajhte hain hum aise benaam rishton ko. Aage jaakar yeh ladki humara hi muh kaala karayegi. Aap toh aadmi hai isiliye koi kuch bolega nahi par yeh toh ladki hai na. Bas bahut hua. Yeh humaara antim nirnay hai ki yeh vivah hokar rahega. Dekhte hain isse kaun rokta hai." Thakumaa threw an open challenge to Anirudh but what she was forgetting was that Bondita was right there.
" Aap yeh vivah karaane ki koshish toh kariye Thakumaa. Ab main woh 8 saal pehele waali chotti Bondita nahi hoon. Jaise pichli baar bhaagi thi na, iss baar bhi bhaag jaungi aur saath mein aapki jhoothi shaan bhi chur-chur karke jaungi aur yeh vaada hai Bondita Das ka." She roared like the lioness she is.
" Vivah toh main tumse kar ke rahunga Bondita phir chahe tumhe kothri mein band kar ke hi kyu na rakhna pade." Chandrachur opened his mouth once again and tightly held Bondita's wrist, twisting it and as a result broke a few of her glass bangles, injuring her.
" Ahhh!" Bondita hissed in pain and tried to wiggle her hand out of his hold.
" Haath chodo uska Chandrachur." Anirudh said each and every word clearly in a dangerously calm voice, just like the calm before the storm.
" Barrister Babu, mere aur mere parivaar ke beech mein bolo mat." He shouted, giving Anirudh a furious look.
" Haath chodo Bondita ka Chandrachur." He repeated his words once again in the exact same tone.
This time, ChurChur avoided Anirudh and that wasn't particularly a wise thing to do considering Anirudh's temper.
Then, without another warning, Chandrachur had to leave Bondita's hand to touch his jaw which was once again punched by Anirudh as he winced in pain.
Bondita looked at Sakha babu, all confused.
" Aap chahte kya hain? Pehele bolte hain ki mujhse koi lena-dena nahi hai aur abhi apna hak jataa rahe hain. Mai toh aapko samajh hi nahi paa rahi hoon ab Barrister Babu!" Bondita exclaimed as he took her hand in his and gently started taking out the little glass pieces which had managed to pierce her skin.
" Mujhe Barrister Babu mat bulao Bondita." He muttered while continuing to do what he was doing.
" Toh kya bulaun phir? Kyuki mere Sakha Babu toh aise nahi the Barrister Babu. Bilkul nahi the." She replied as tears made their way to her cheeks and eventually fell on Anirudh's hands who immediately looked up as his eyes softened.
" Kuch bhi bulao...Sakha babu, Birristira babu, Rakshas Babu, kuch bhi par Barrister Babu nahi. Aur mujhe maaf kardo Bondita please. Maine tumhaare saath bahut galat kiya hai, tumse jhooth bola hai par dil mera bhi dukha hai Bondita, yakeen maano. Tumhare ek-ek aasuon ki chubhan mere dil ne mehsoos ki hai, tumhari har rote hui siski ka hisaab maanga hai mere dil ne mujhse par iss dushmani ne mujhe woh ek kadam tumhaari or badhaane hi nahi diya jo mujhe shayad usi din badhaana chahiye tha jis din tum London se waapis lauti." He said, looking straight into her eyes while wiping her tears.
Bondita on the other hand was stumped to her place because right now, his words felt more intimate to her than a love confession would have. He was pouring his heart out to her which was exactly what she wanted in the very first place.
" Inn sab baaton ka koi fayda nahi hai Bondita. Chal yaha se. Tera vivah hai agle saptah. Ya toh mere saath chal ya phir Das baadi se nikal ja. Mai bhi dekhti hoon ki koi bhi insaan ek akeli aurat ko kahin bhi rehne ki jagah deta hai." Thakumaa threw an ultimatum towards Bondita.
" Aapko kya lagta hai Thakumaa, yeh sab sunne ke baad main aapke saath kisi bhi haalat mein chalungi? Bilkul bhi nahi. Mai dar-dar thokar khaane tayaar hoon par ab Das baadi mein ek kadam nahi rakungi." Bondita announced with her head held high.
" Lautna toh tumhe ghar hi padega na Bondita. Aur jaogi kahan?" Chandrachur taunted her and it totally riled her up.
" Bondita, yaad hai 8 saal pehele tumne mujhse poocha tha ki samay aane par kya tum mujhe apna jeevansaathi chun sakti ho toh maine bola tha ki agar uss samay tumhe sahi lage lage toh tum mujhe bhi chun sakti ho?" Anirudh asked Bondita right in front of everyone because he had no other option. He couldn't see Bondita's and his pure relationship being humiliated by anybody.
Bondita nodded her head in a yes confused because she wasn't sure where Anirudh was trying to go with this question.
" Haan par abhi inn sab baaton ka kya matlab hai Barrister Babu? Abhi mujhe apne parivaar se nipatna hai." She replied and started to walk towards Thakumaa when Anirudh gently held her hand to stop her.
" Matlab hai Bondita. Kya tum aaj bhi chunna chahogi mujhe?" Anirudh had just proposed Bondita but she didn't realize that.
" Yeh sab aap kya......" She stopped in between because that's when the realization hit her. Indeed, Anirudh Roy Choudhary was proposing her and this time, she didn't know how to react.
" Haan, tum sahi samajh rahi ho Bondita." Anirudh said and left her upper arm that he was holding to extend his hand towards her for her to take it with a small smile playing on his lips but Bondita, in her little head was taking it all wrong.
" Bilkul nahi Barrister Babu. 10 saal pehele jaise aapne mujhse majboori mein vivah kiya tha uska andaaza mujhe bilkul nahi tha par ab main badi ho gayi hoon. Aise hi kitne ahsaan hain mujhpar aapke, ab aur nahi. Yeh unchaahe bandhan mein mai aapko phirse ekbaar nahi baandh sakti. Itni bhi swaarthi nahi hai yeh Bondita." She said, making up her mind and putting up a farce of nonchalance as if her own words were not breaking her hearf into a million pieces.
Anirudh on the other hand wasn't so subtle about the words that had just left her mouth.
" Majboori? Bondita agar majboori hi hoti na toh mai pichle 8 saalon se tumhara intezaar nahi kar raha hota!" He lost all his temper and lashed out at her.
" Toh phir toh mere sawaal ka jawaab dena aapke liye aur bhi zyada zaroori ho jaata hai na Barrister Babu. Bataiye na kyun intezaar kar rahe the aap mera? Aapne hi toh bola tha ki mere jeene ya marne se aapko koi fark nahi padta. Bola tha ki nahi?" She gave it back to him in the very same tone.
" Woh sab maine gusse mein bola tha Bondita. Tumhe kya lagta hai? Tumhare Sakha Babu aise hain? Yeh Anirudh Roy Choudhary apni jaan de dega par tumpe koi aanch nahi aane dega." He announced, not only to her but to everyone who was listening.
" Aapko ab meri zimmedaari uthaani ki koi aavashyakta nahi hai Barrister Babu. Mai nahi chahti ki meri wajah se ab aapko apne koi bhi sapne ki aahuti deni pade." She replied, looking anywhere but at his face.
" Yeh kya Barrister Babu Barrister Babu lagaa rakha hai Bondita! Maine kahaa na, mujhe woh mat bulao." Anirudh could not even bear the thought of his Bondita addressing him with something everybody used to, especially when there were painful memories connected to it. He could still recall that day when Bondita had called him Barrister Babu instead of Pati babu or Barristara babu when he had fake married Manorama.
" Are yeh kya chal raha hai? Bondita tujhse main antim baar puch rahi hoon. Ghar chal Jamai babu se vivah ke liye maanegi ya phir tujhe beghar hone ka shauk chadha hai?" Thakumaa intervened in between annoying the arguing duo.
" Aree aap 2 minute shaant rahengi? Baat kar rahe hain na!" Bondita and Anirudh shouted together at her and she was taken aback with the sudden outburst of the two.
" Aur aap Barrister Babu, aapko mai jo bhi bulayun, itni takleef kyun ho rahi hai aapko haan? Mai toh Barrister Babu hi bulaungi." Bondita added stubbornly, folding her arms in front of her chest.
" Itni zidd, itni zidd abhi bhi tum utni hi ziddi ho jitni bachpan mein thi." He said in annoyance at her again.
" Aur abhi bhi aap utne hi akdu hain jitne pehele the. Raakshas babu!" She titled him once again which even though was meant to hurt him, put a littlest of smile on his lips.
" Yeh theek hai." He muttered to himself, still smiling.
" Kuch kaha aapne?" She asked, in the same position as she raised an eyebrow.
" Yeh Barrister Babu kuch bhi kehete rahein Bondita, aakhir mein toh tumhe mera hi hona hai. Tum hi toh ho jisse mera vivah hone waala tha na?" Chundrachur though posted it as a question but was a direct taunt to the two of them.
" Iss tark se toh Bondita patni thi mera toh uska vivah mujhse dobara ho jaana chahiye, nahi Chandrachur? Par yeh nirnay sirf aur sirf Bondita ka hai ki woh kisse vivah karna chahti hai aur kuch ho na ho, yeh baat toh pakki hai ki woh tum nahi ho." Anirudh took a step towards Chandrachur and smirked at him. He, having no reply looked away from Anirudh.
" Jamai babu, ab aap ekdum chup rahenge. Ek shabd aur nikala toh phir mai khud nahi jaanti ki mai aapke saath kya kar baithun. Samjhe aap?" Bondita pointed a finger and him, almost growling.
" Par Bonditaa....." He continued but one look from her was enough to shut him up.
" Toh Bondita, mai abhi bhi apne sawaal ke jawaab ka intezaar kar raha hoon." Anirudh once again addressed Bondita, turning towards her.
" Jawaab toh mai de chuki hoon na. Mai phir se aap pe bojh nahi banna chahti. Aapko poori azaadi hai apna jeevansaathi chunne ki. Ek baar phir aap apni khushiyon ki aahuti nahi denge." She once again voiced her emotions.
" Meri khushiyon ki aahuti toh tum yahi bol kar de rahi ho ki tum bas ek zimmedaari thi. Haan, shuruwaat mein zimmedaari hi thi. Uske baad tumse lagaav ho gaya, ek aisaa judaav ho gaya jo itni nafrat se bhi nahi jal paaya. Bondita main tumse pyaar karta hoon. Aaj se nahi, pichle 10 saalon se aur main yeh baat tumhe pehele bhi bol chuka joon. Yaad hai? Aur yahi baat tumne bhi mujhse kahi thi. Pyaar ke roop alag ho sakte hain Bondita par pyaar toh pyaar hi hota hai na? Aur main agar tumse iss baar vivah karunga toh apni poori marzi aur khushi se karunga kyuki mai apnaa saara jeevan tumhare saath bitaana chahta hoon. Aur agar tum bhi yahi chahti ho toh yeh jhijak kaisi? Haan bolo aur mujhe humesha ke liye sweekaar lo kyuki mai toh tumhe humesha se hi apna hi maanta hoon." He finished and by the time he did, Bondita had tears in her eyes and Anirudh felt as if a huge burden had been lifted off his chest. He finally had let go of all the emotions that he had bottled up inside of him.
" Sakha babu, pyaar toh yeh Bondita bhi karti hai aapse aur aaj se nahi, tab se jab mujhe pata bhi nahi tha ki pyaar hota kya hai. Aap hi toh mere sab kuch hain. Mere pati babu the, mere Shishak babu hain, mere Rakshak babu hain jo kabhi kabhi Rakshas Babu bhi ban jaate hain. Aapne hi toh mujhe yeh pankh diye hain jinse mai hum donon ke sapno ki udaan bhar sakun. Par aapne hi mujhe apne se dur kar diya na. Apna dard chupaya, sab kuch khud sehte rahe aur mujhe bhanak tak nahi lagne di. Kya itni paraayi ho gayi hoon ab main?" She asked him with a heaviness in her heart.
" Tum buddhu ho Bondita. Kya kabhi dil apni dhadkan se alag ho sakta hai? Nahi na? Toh tumse kaise soch liya ki maine tumko khud se door kar diya? Mai toh bas tumhe iss dushmani ke zeher se door rakha taki tum hum donon ke sapno ko poora kar payo bina kisi darr ke aur bina meri chinta ke. Itne varsh main sabse, khud se jhooth bolta raha ki humara koi rishta nahi hai aur tum mere jeevan mein koi maayne nahi rakhi ho par kaka sahi kehte hain, insaan sab se jhooth bol sakta hai par khud ke dilon dimaag se nahi. Tum jab London se lauti toh mujhse jitna ho saka mai utna door raha tumse par jab aaj tumhe dekha toh iss dil ne mujhe hi dhokha de diya. Nahi rakh paaya mai tumhe khud se door. Itna pyaar karta hoon mai tumse." Anirudh answered her each and every question just like he used to earlier and he felt as if his life was returning back to him.
" Sakha babu." She couldn't hold her tears back as she threw herself at him and he caught her with ease in his arms, chucking slightly.
" Ji haan." Bondita muttered in his ears, blushing.
" Ji haan? Matlab.....haan uss prashn ke liye jo maine tumse pucha tha?" He asked, happiest anyone had seen him in 8 years.
All Bondita did was hum softly and Anirudh, wrapping his arms around her waist, twirled her in the air as she gasped sharply and blushed harder because of all the eyes on them.
" Are Anirudh, ghar nahi chalna kya? Humaari grahlakshmi 8 saal baad apne ghar mein kadam rakhne waali hai. Humein saari tayyariyan dekhni hai. Sampoorna ab chalo." Kaka was almost jumping in excitement as the whole RC family walked towards Rudhita.
" Bondita kahin nahi jaayegi aap tum logon ke saath." Chandrachur still didn't back off.
" Ji bilkul chalungi kaka. Maine bhi apna ghar, apne parivaar waalon ko bahut yaad kiya hai aur ab mujhe door rehene ka man nahi hai." Bondita immediately countered Chandrachur who was left red-faced with anger but there was nothing else he could do. He had understood by now that she wasn't someone who would let anyone walk all over her.
" Toh chalo phir, pehele Dugga maa ka darshan karnte hain aur phir ghar chalte hain." Sampoorna said excited and all of them nodded and made their way inside the temple leaving Thakumaa and Chandrachur totally embarrassed. Sumati had a little smile on her face to see her daughter happy.
" Waise tumne abhi mujhe I love you bola nahi hai Bondita." Anirudh whispered in her ear as everyone was praying in the temple.
" Pooja mein dhyaan dijiye Sakha babu, aapko shobha nahi deta hai yeh sab karna. Aap Tulsipur ke Barrister Babu hain, kyu Barrister Babu?" She teased him, trying her best to hide her blush.
" Tum bahut jaldi bologi Bondita, bahut jald." He teased her further and this time a lovely shade of red adored her cheeks.
