In our culture, after every annual vrats or fasts like chhath, teej, jitiya,and others, fish should be the first non veg dish eaten by the person and the family

even before my 10th board exams my grand father made sure that i eat or just see the fish and then leave the house🤣

those were the days..i am missing that this time

i used to get a chocolate from each of my family members before leaving the house which i used to eat in my school before entering the hall🤣

Nahi nahi Mugs. Bengalis don't consider fish as veg. It falls under non-veg only. Even garlic and ginger, which in some parts of India is considered as a part of veg dishes, is considered non-veg here. 😆

But yes, it's very difficult to find veg restaurants in Kolkata. Only south Indian restaurants cans serve you veg meals. You can find veg meals in non-veg restaurants but some people don't prefer that so pure veg meals could only be found in South Indian restaurants. Cause fish is compulsory 😆

If they are purely vegetarians, they won't eat fish. 👍🏼 But some Bengalis are like they only eat fish as non-veg options - no eggs, chicken or meat. I think that could be the case. Fish is holy here but does not fall under veg 🤪
