How did Saudamini marry Greenwood?

This question has baffled me since their entry as a couple. Britishers looked down on Indians in that era, then how on earth did a guy like Greenwood get a fancy for Saudamini and also marry her? Did she give him her zameen for the indigo farming or something?

Makers are not clearing the exact reason so I am presuming that she did some black magic on Greenwood and made him her gulam 🤪and the rest is history 🤣
