DM is not dead for sure as yash( who is gonna act as grown up suraj) said in his interview

"After getting a celebrity papa like Ram Kapoor in Basera, now I get the honour of working with yet another popular celebrity in Ronit Roy. The working experience has been really good, and I am looking forward to playing this role".

only i fDM is alive ronit can shoot with yash

so don't worrt be happy
