Ramong I agree with you. I'm pretty certain that DM is suffering in some manner, either physically or mentally.

This is the only explanation as to why Hiten has taken his fathers place even though DM is still alive. The possibility that DM has retired is there too, but I doubt it very much. He had too much drive and ambition to just roll over and die like that (metaphorically speaking)

He must be incapacitated in some way and that's when Hiten stepped into his shoes. This in itself must have changed the dynamics of the family.
