He surveys the multitude with subtle nonchalance,
He swaggers into the village square, a smile in his eyes,
He sends many a heart into a flutter, a devil in disguise!
With eyes that smile as they speak volumes,
With a veneer that hides nerves of steel,
With a heart filled with tales of woe,
With a stride that stoops to conquer!
He stands by his little home, a long stick in one hand,
He glances at this woman who lives in his home
He glances at this woman who lives in his heart
His eyes beckon to her, hesitant and bold all at once!
Yet, there is an ocean between the man and woman,
Yet, there are tangled webs of lies between the man and woman,
Yet, they glance at one another furtively, yearning,
Yet, each wishes the other would relent!
What shall we make of these strange bedfellows,
Beneath all the bluster and bickering,
Beneath all the hate and recriminations,
Are two lives and a marriage in the making!
