Hahahaha so true Tash ..

Bhashan route, precisely ..

I am so happy that Bandini is not getting preachy and doing something like attaching the one-liner' social messages and hazards' at the end of each episode that BV does ..

I dont HATE BV .. it just gets on my nerves!

i haven't seen the movie yet...but its so sad to see when things like this happen.... n are still happeining ...

i think there's nothing wrong with a 10yr age gap...my friends mother is 10yrs older them his father...
but i would only go for a garp of 5yrs....n if the guys younger ... than only 2.

^^ lol, Sharon.. that's so cute.. i think if two people are in love, then the age difference doesn't matter.. but maturity plays a big part in it.. even 10-15 years of gap sometimes i have seen in couples, but they are just so perfect together.. so i guess it depends from person to person.. but yes, that is what i hear from my younger sister too.. LOL..
and well said Tash.. i completely concur with you and Sukhi.. we don't watch a movie to get a bhaashan.. although, some movies are good when they give a message as well as entertainment, but i don't like when it's too much lecture.. wouldn't i rather read a novel, or listen to my so many elders eager to give me tips.. lol..
i am so glad Bandini is great entertainment, whereas it has underlying social message but it is entertaining at the same time.. so makes a great watch.. and i am happy with most of the casting, specially RR..

this is what i don't get. i find the whole thing so unacceptable. why would it be unacceptable when you see the reality in the movie and then acceptable in the show?

i never want to see the two grow "intimate"
if anything they should become good friends. and perhaps a love of friendship can grow.

but more? ugh. imagine yourself in hiten's shoes?

LOL...I don't think Tash is saying it is not acceptable in the movie but it is in the show. Infact, she said and I quote:

"Ladies, let us all be thankful that it is DM playing DM. After watching that scene in Delhi 6 I thought to myself that this older guy younger girl thing probably does happen in India alot. The guy in the movie was soooo soooo ick, he actually LOOKED 50, it broke my heart for the girl."

So, Tash mentions that this likely happens in reality...and yes it does.
Tash is merely pointing out that the man was not as good looking as RR/DM. But then not every man can be as handsome and appealing as Ronit Roy...be it old or young!

kgh212121 , I agree with you.
DM and Santo should have a relationship of maalik and servant, so that when he comes to know that it's Santo who his son-in-law has falllen for, he can just let her go. In real or reel, it is completely unacceptable to have a wife who is as old as his kids.

I agree that every guy does not look as good as DM young or old. Us who have good looking man in our lives should be thankful for it. Old man marrying young girl does go on. That is a side affects of poverty and low edju. I would say Bandidni is all cute and all because RR is playing DM. Imagine Ompuri playing DM and all of us wanting to have Santo fall in love with him.

I apologise for this but I am very surprised at some of the comments. Marriage between an older man and a younger woman may happen in India because of social and cultural reasons. But in the west, it does happen between people because of love. People in the west would think it wrong to deny an older man the company of a younger woman just because he is old. Or vice versa, though the reverse does not happen in India.

RR is definitely more pleasing to the eye than Prem Chopra. Prem Chopra looks 70, not 50! The producers know that which is why they asked RR to play the role.

My understanding of Bandini is that it shows how two people, both of whom did not expect to marry the other, cross barriers of caste, class and age to become soulmates.

Just go through all our threads and see how much we agonise about these TV characters' thoughts and acts. We do care about the ethics of their actions. What I think most people are saying here is that they do not like messages to be preachy! Which I also agree.

But to say that we will only take messages from our family/friends and not from media is not only wrong, but also untrue. If we were all to take messages only from our families, then inter-caste marriages for example would never happen in India because no family would encourage it!

I accept all brickbats for being preachy. Please feel free to pm them to me😊

OMG Rasika..

That was a fab reply .. and I totally agree with each and every thing that you have wanted to express .. just take Salman Rushdie for example, though none of his relationships with his 'younger' girlfriends has lasted or turned out to be anything spectacular .. his relationships are pretty normal to the western world !

In India, as you pointed out, I have an instance .. of just last week, where a girl widow of 20 years was married off to a 70 year old man because her parents wanted to marry her off and he was the only one willing .. we should be grateful that in Bandini, the older man does not lust for his young bride .. it is a mature story and will always remain special =)

Sorry to hear about that marriage Sukhi, between such a young woman and a very old man.

I think it happens in many parts of the world, not just India.

The thing I like in Bandini is exactly what you said, that the marriage is shown with great maturity. The creative team seem to be quite sensitive to the fact that not everyone can digest this marriage and so are taking it very slowly and carefully. Good decision.
