Mumbai: Nowadays, it seems our television actors are going the Bollywood way - at least as far as experimenting with looks is concerned. So to get into the skin of the character in his new serial Bandini, Ronit Roy has grown a real moustache. Interestingly, it's only after the show started doing well and his character was being appreciated that Ronit decided to grow a moustache as opposed to the fake one that he earlier used to sport.
He says, "When the show started, I had a fake moustache but I was not satisfied with it. Moreover, the fake moustache started pinching me. So, I decided to grow a real one so that I could live the character even off-screen."
Ronit essays the role of Dharamraj - an extremely egoistic, obstinate and renowned diamond merchant - who has several jewellery stores in his hometown Surat.
However, we ask him about another recent role that he played - that of Bheeshma in the new version of the Mahabharata.
There he sported all fake stuff. He defends that saying, "I accept that. But Bheeshma was a mythological character; so there was a problem to grow the kind of beard and moustache that he had. But my character in Bandini is something that's derived from real life."
Hi everyone,
I am in a transit lounge waiting.....My bro download this weeks Bandini for me while in Bangladesh and I just finished watching them. These are my very hurried and random thoughts about the epies (need some distraction/escape from work files ). Mota Bhia, I heard about your sms, you got worried....do you know how cute you are? Quite unsuitable for a bhai type character. I lubb you lots you know. I had to rush of very quickly notice and to rearrange some other trips too. Will be back soon, hopefully.
DM & Chokri at the award ceremony (Monday):
1st of all, I lubb the way DM calls the chokri, "Chokri". For me, his address doesn't have any nastiness or mock in it, it just that her name doesn't come to his mind at the time and thus, "Oye Chokri"...I know at some point DM will call her Santu, but, I will always like, "Oye Chokri" more. I am likeing the 'Chokri' cause she is quite intelligent and practical. Her emotions and constant bad treatment by Alien (from the movie Alien) doesn't overtake her judgement. I loved the very simple way in which she dealt with the speech and then had the presence of mind to clap after DM's speech. It was given that DM would dedicate the trophy to Shu, but the way 'Chokri' covered up DM's callousness towards her and came out a bigger person (being that young) was brilliant. I would applaud the 'Chorki' in her dealing with the reporter as well. DM is well accustomed to these situations, but, she is not. So, the way she matched her steps with him is indeed commendable. Chokri has all the qualities to play a good game of chess with DM. DM being the person he is, just and fair, felt guilty when he found out the cause of the attempted suicide by the village woman. I believe that he doesn't feel anything for the 'Chokri' in the form of love (love of husband and wife), he still truly loves Shu, but, as he is a good man, he did feel guilty and shame at his own behaviour towards the 'Chokri'. When the 'Chokri' covered up for him at her house, the look in his eyes was that of guilt and remorse, nothing else.
The Alien and the Hero (Tuesday):
You know that alien creature from the movie 'Alien'? Well thats what moti reminds me of. I never mention that I am a good person and as such, if I had my way with 'the Alien' I would have enjoyed brutally and bloodily murdering her. I also might have done exactly what she did to the 'chokri' adding some of my own embellishments. I am not remotely ashamed about these feelings of mine, cause, her behaviour made me feel this way and I can't help it.
I lubb the 'Nanka' more and more and I dunno how this is possible.........He is a misunderstood (through his own behaviour), but he is a damn good man. He indeed is fair and just. Whenever he found out or was made aware of the 'Chokri's situation, he took the correct steps to rectify them. He might be the 'Alien's' nanka (obviously the 'Alien' was found by DM parents in some UFO wreckage), but, he won't give her a cm where justice is concerned. The 'Chokri' has already realised this about DM and inevitably has started to fall for him and to protect him.
The Hero and his foes (Wednesday):
The way my favourite superhero (it used to be Batman before) warned the 'Alien' about her behaviour towards the 'Chokri' and her family was too cool. He hated the fact that he wrongly accused the 'chokri' a few times because of the 'Alien'. I just dare 'Alien' to do it once more and see what Dharamraj Mahiyavanshi will do to his alien older sibling.
I dislike and despise Hiten and DM's elder daughter (whatever her name is). I don't care if Hiten is copy of his father and I don't care for his stupid reasoning for hating DM (the idiot is blind and braindead not to see his father's love for his mother) and I do not care for him. Hiten can go to KAMINA and take his snivelling spoilt sister with him. How can a girl (woman) of her age not understand her father? They all know that though DM is a very hard, stubborn and authoritarian man, he is a good human being. His children must realize this. So, despite knowing what their father really is like, their behaviour towards him makes me want to kick them on their ***. I will never like this stupid Hiten and Co, until and unless they ask forgiveness from DM on their sorry GHUTNAS. Also, I feel that Bapuji and Baa shouldn't have gone to the puja no matter what. If their son was snubbed like this by their stupid grandkid then they shouldn't have gone, no matter who wanted them to (even DM). So, I am feeling quite resentful towards this supposed cutie pies Babuji and Baa.
HOW DARE THEY TOUCH DM. The chuha ki black sheep aulad, chuha kul ka kalank...........how dare he attack DM. Keya fight kiya DM ne, no wonder he became my favourite super hero. Even after he got hit on the head, keya lethal stare dia...WOWOWOW.....I didn't know what to do. Cry for him or gawk at him for his utter dashing and gorgeous looks (his looks can be a major distraction)............I wanted to wring that nasty and filthy chuhas neck. It was as if some vermins were attacking a lion and the lion finally succumbed to their poisonous bites.
My Hero (Shona) and the 'Chokri':
My feeling about the current relationship between DM and the 'Chokri' is that there is NON whatsoever. DM knows by now that 'Chokri' possess quite a bit of common sense and that she is a good person. He will protect her as he is a fair man and as he knows that she is his responsibility. I think I have mentioned this before as well, if DM is made aware of the 'Chokri's' bad treatment he will take come to her aid quite quickly. The 'Chokri' has started to like the qualities in DM and I think she realized that he is quite a misunderstood man (not that he is bothered to clear any misconception about himself). This liking will very soon turn to love. DM on the other had loves only Shu till now. The 'Chokri' will make her way in DM's thoughts first with her tolerance, understanding and intelligence. 'Chokri' will quietly become DM's staunchest supporter and when DM realises this he will reciprocate with respect towards her ' respect and understanding. 'Chokri's love for DM and DM's respect for the 'Chokri' will I think, finally open DM's heart to expect 'Chokri' as his wife and pave the way for mutual love between the two. This will take time and I for one, LUBB it this way.
GOSH! The 'Chokri' is beyond lucky, she has a super hero her all to herself (a reluctant super hero, I know, but phir bhi, super hero toh hai na). What a manly man he is (I can't believe this is RR), heart stopping, jaw dropping, awe inspiring, breath taking PURE MAN. His intensity and charisma just freezes me on the spot. This man managed all these as a uber cool, elegant and sophisticated urban business tycoon and now he is doing all of it again in a rustic avatar (as if that urban tycoon never existed)...Well, I will not go in those details now.
