Nandini is shameless to accept help from Amit for such a big amount to fulfill dowry demands of greedy people and to save a sister who is wreckless enough to get pregnant before marriage.

Hey Leaves,

I read your updates almost everyday. Thanks for taking time to post. You make it easy for us to know how the story is progressing even without compulsorily watching it.

However, nothing motivates me to go and watch the episode. Have managed to tune off BV completely now. I miss the forum though.

Anyways, I caught up on this show called Doli armaanon ki. Didn't know about it earlier but found its episodes online. Their main character Urmi played by Neha Marda evokes too many feelings. I have still reached half way. I am at a point where Urmi finally gets her son's custody and has moved on to becoming a restaurant owner.

I loved the fire in her character. And many times I felt, what I couldn't get to see of Anandi, I got to see in Urmi. Neha Marda was brilliant as Urmi.

Its a nice show with a good balance in characterisation of both protagonist Urmi and antagonist Samrat Singh.

The problem with Nandini's story is we don't know what is the ultimate aim of her existence. So why should we sit through her story.

If we look at Anandi's story, we always knew why we are watching her journey.

As choti Anandi, we wanted to know what is the life of a balika vadhu and what are its repercussions.

Then we wanted to know what happens to an abandoned wife and can she put back the shattered pieces of her life together?

Then we wanted to see how love heals one from her past to a brighter future.

Then it was a story about a widow and a mother who lost her child and was waiting to reunite with her child.

What is Nandini's story? What is she fighting for? Why is her existence so important and what value does she add?

Her story is not about adopted child and foster parents. It is not about brother sister reunion. It is not a story of a helpless orphan or even of an ambitious doctor. It is not even a story of the most loved and trusted daughter / sister of a family. Neither it is any kind of unusual love story.

So what is Balika Vadhu (LPK) all about?

It is a mishmash and it requires lots of patience on my part to sit through. Fortunately I watch other shows which are somewhat honest enough.

Leaves - speaking for myself I don't see any point in watching this show.

BV was supposed to be the journey of girl from child bride to a social activist who worked to prevent child marriages and rehabilitated child brides.In her journey she lost a lot and ultimately lost her life in her fight with a man who considered her as his enemy because of her fight against child marriages.

Her team comprised of her Balak Var and the very same lady who snatched her rights away in the name of tradition when she was a child.Together all three fought for the betterment of society and empowerment of women.

That story with all it's flaws was appealing.The character with all her weaknesses as well strengths was appealing and relatable. The creative team which gave these three characters and their stories narrated the story in a beautiful way.

What exactly is appealing in Nandini's story? Nothing.Starting with the actress playing the character to everything about the character and the story are unappealing.🥱

Nandini a highly educated doctor borrowing money from her employer to meet the demands of the groom and his family as well as to pay her dowry is not what is expected from a female lead who is the main protagonist of the show which is supposed to deal with social issues. Is this lead really worth our time spent watching her?

I do not watch the show anymore simply because of the replacement of story and the creative team.

People stop watching the show if actors are replaced.I can put up with replacement of actors but I cannot put up with the replacement of story and creative team especially when the creative team which is a top notch team is replaced by a B grade team which can neither tell the story in a way that touches the viewer nor can they extract good performances from the actors. So why should me or anyone who is used to much better quality in the same show accept this?

Now I am sticking to my old favourites the sitcoms and rom-coms the ever dependable shows Friends and Everybody loves Raymond and of course the weekend nonfiction shows.

No more Hindi daily soaps for me unless another show like Balika Vadhu comes up.

If you enjoy sitcoms like Friends and Everybody loves Raymond, you might enjoy The Big Bang Theory too. All its characters are uniquely developed but highly relatable.

I am re watching 2012 episodes of BV. Not just Anandi-Shiv or Jagya-Gauri, but even the scenes of DS with her sons were worth of spending time on. My most favorite part of early 2012 BV is the way the relationship between Anandi and Bhairon grew, every single dialogue of Bhairon used to be so well written!! BV those days was a pure bliss to watch 👏
