The sincerity with which Harki wanted to observe widow's rituals almost made me believe in them. When a woman is truly devoted to her man, the rituals dont seem to be a burden but a tribute to the departed soul. Even if he is a villain to the core.
Kamli should have kept quiet instead of telling again and again what a wicked person Akheraj used to be.

Compare it to the way how hurriedly dadisa wanted to make Gehna wear colored saree without knowing what Gehna wanted to wear.

Our rituals maybe archaic but there are still some who dont mind them but respect them.

We must be tolerant enough to respect their views also.

We can change people who are ready to change. But not someone like Harki. It will take lots of time and patience.

This Kundan is respecting his mother unlike that other Kundan. Hope he continues to do so.

Kamli's helplessness and the silent support of Pushkar to her and the smiling akheraj's picture made me emotional. Akheraj does not deserve all this. But the CVs are making him larger than life.

Didn't watch the episode so can't comment or relate but I liked your views on rituals.

Yes Harki is a very devoted wife. Her love and devotion for Akhiraj was always above everything. She will not find it a burden to follow those rituals, because she may really not have any interest left in materialistic pleasures anymore.

Dsa is one such example too. Her devotion to her husband and the legacy with which she carries her widowhood doesn't look like she is burdened with rituals. Its the inner strength that matters.

Harki is following those traditions because of two reasons. One is her belief in those traditional practices. She genuinely believes that her adhering to these restrictions imposed on widows will be beneficial to her husband's soul. Two she genuinely loves her husband and wants to do it for her husband and not for the society.
Gehna while loved her husband she didn't really want to follow those restrictions imposed by the society but didn't know how to say no to the society.Dsa understood this and that's why she spoke up for Gehna.

Anandi dressed down post Shiv's death while she was very clear in her mind that she will not dress like widow. Her dressing reflects more of her mental status rather than wanting to stick to tradition or a desire to knock down the tradition. She stopped wearing bright dresses post Shiv's death for her own reasons not for the sake of society and she wore them again to please her children. For her it is more about pleasing her loved ones rather than wanting to break any traditions.

Dsa didn't change her way of dressing but that is her own mindset. Her attitude says it all she can't change herself completely but she will endorse every good change that is happening in the society around her.

Mangala follows the restrictions imposed on the widows because she thinks society expects that of her not because she believes in them. Since she didn't know how to defy the society she took refuge in Devi ma act to get splashed with colors.

All of them have a different approach to restrictions imposed on widows.

Kamili should buzz off for sometime and give some space to Harki.Let her mother grieve for her husband in peace. She should understand. She herself is reeling under the loss of her father even though she thoroughly disapproved of his actions how much more her mother's grief would be specially she was with him at every step.
This is not the time to remind her brother and mother what kind of a man their father/her mother's husband had been

This Kamili and her persistence remind me of Anandi😛

As far as I know - only Sugna expressed her views - main Pratap ka dukh manana chahti hu. Otherwise - Anandi never said that she wants or does not want to wear those clothes - in fact her get-up changed many times without her expressing views about her clothes - from very simple post Shiv's death to designer sarees she never told why she changed (except when Nimboli asked her to wear that orange dress - she expressed her reservations). Gahna also expressed her reservations only when DS told her - it was not shown that she wanted coulorful dress but was holding back due to society. Mangala - in that first episode - it was not clear if she wanted to save Nimboli or herself wanted to play coulours - but she did help some woman in that episode. Only once - during Kamli's mehndi- she was seen rejoicing with mehnadi on hands.
Creatives are very abrupt about these rituals or clothes.

One should not force the way Sugna was roughly handled by dadisa during Pratap's death. It was violent.
Young girls like Sugna and Asha need gentle guidance.

I wished Anandi and Gehna should have worn white for a few days until those 13 days are over and then changed to sober colors and then as they wished. People can look beautiful even in whites and blacks. Just the way they wont wear white or black for weddings though some maybe fond of those stark colors.

Anandi once very clearly told DB that she won't wear white and since then she chose to wear simple light coloured ghaghras and it was quite a tone down from her heavy decked up dressing earlier.

Her attire post leap was horrible. She neither came across as a proper widow nor as a well groomed principal or even as a wife of IAS.

Her sarees are much better. Don't know what prompted her to change her entire look. But she looks elegant enough now to reflect a principal as well as a widow who believes in simplicity but doesn't believe in following strict rituals.

Anandi's principles are similar to Meenu's (when she believed to be a widow) but her dressing style is similar to Ira's

@bold - perhaps these words were told to DB by Ira and Daddu also said - did Anandi said that?

The words were told by Ira to DB but Anandi had already chosen her attire and neck piece, with the same thought process.

She said something like, 'Shiv is still alive in her mind or something'.

I don't remember exactly who said what but it was certainly Anandi's choice and approval to wear light colours which was supported by Daddu and Ira. She was not asked to wear colours by others, like how she was once asked to remove pallu from her head.

Anandi did not say anything - Ira and later daddu told DB that Anandi will not wear those whites and something like a sheed never dies.
