Although I am a big fan of Balika Vadhu and have loved it over the years. But after watching today's epidode, with Urmi lying on her death bed and 'Chhoti si umar' playing in the background, I was reminded of initial days of Balika Vadhu. When it was started it was a show like never seen before which amused Indian audiences. It showed social evils with relatable characters and with so much relevance.

It did not look like Urmi's death was due to child-marriage.

It was because she was married into a criminal's family... Even if urmi was over 18 with a healthy body, she would have most likely died or at least had a miscarriage after the way akhiraj caught her and frightened her to death.

The theme is nice but it's not properly executed.

agree In Urmi's place any adult woman would have suffered too because such shocks are life threatening for a pregnant woman

What is new cvs blame child marraige. Even when Akhi will die they will blame child marraige.

Urmi's death is due to combination of causes.

Urmi may have survived if she wouldn't have been attacked by Akhiraj. But the very fact that she got pregnant at such a young age and also molested constantly by the brute husband of hers. And look at him!

Well, there was lot of hue and cry few days back when juvenile rapist of Jyoti singh (Nirbhaya) was released. People complained why he should be released. But even Supreme Court did not yield to public pressure. People wanted to change law even for one criminal. Now in Urmi's case It needed to be reminded to viewers that she was also raped. There are many Urmi like Balika vadhu getting raped by her Kunal like juvenile husband in Rural and Semi-urban India. There are no proof of such rapes. So creatives need to show that Kundan getting punished severely and so Harki. They lost good opportunity when Jhalara police chose to just ignore them by giving threat lor helping Akhirajsingh. Well actually what police do in such circumstances is to put Harki and Kundan under remand and tried to get information regarding Akheraj.
